I am looking for advice on behalf of my new Son in Law. He previously lived with his Grandparents and had Tiscali as a Service provider. When he lost his job he contacted them as he could not pay as he had no income. He also sold his computer. He then left his Grandparents house. The Grandparents are trying to get Broadband but Tiscali will not release them until THEY pay a years worth of rental even though their systems show that 3 times they had blocked the account yet for some reason they then made it active again!
Tiscali say that because my Son in Law lived with his Grandparents ( even though no internet usage has been used for over a year) they are correct in not releasing the line.
He is currently in talks with CAB as he got depressed and ran into money troubles after his loss of work so cannot pay this money( even though he should not owe them). He is now aware to get everything in writing!
Can anyone please advise what is his Grandparents legal position to move supplier ?
