Since moving in to my new flat I have received an absolutely appalling service from the Southern Electric team. After ignoring a letter from my landlord, they then proceeded to ignore the information I gave them in a direct phone call, and after 6 months of chasing by email and finally a formal letter, they would finally recognise that I was now present as the account owner. After all this, they have still managed to get my name wrong on the account (despite spelling it out in the call, having it in my online account, and on all correspondence), and are so far unreachable (with an engaged tone) on the new phone number they have provided. Safe to say I am in the process of ditching this terrible company!

As a landlord of many properties I have been with British Gas, N power, EDF and Scottish Power. It was when a friend recommended Southern Electric to me that I signed up. And it was the best decision I have ever made. UK based call centre, great customer service, they actually do care about customer service and are always very helpful and efficient and never to busy to help, I have had bad experience in the past with British Gas, and N power there customer service is appalling. The fact is I know this company is the best I have been with British Gas, N power, EDF and Scottish Power, so I am in best position to advise. They are part of the Scottish and Southern energy group and are No 1 for Customer Service that’s a fact. I am a Southern Electric customer for life. Fact.

"appalling" that's all I can say about this company We're a low gas and electric user and are extremely energy conscious. We have things like energy saving bulbs, switch all lights off, only buy appliacnces with A+ rating, have had new boiler, have had all manner of insulation put in. We both work long days and are rarely in, only heat one room etc. A a result of which our gas consumption is very low. They've accused us of fixing the meter so it didn't use, and actually called me liar! Needless to say we're in the process of changing supplier. The customer services is appalling, averaging 20mins to answer, while I've tried to sort it out, nad when they finally did answer the phone all those I spoke to, with the exception of the manager, were extremely rude. DO NOT USE THEM

SE have great customer service. Nothing is too much trouble - they are happy to discuss DD amounts, ways to save energy etc. but their prices are not the best. In the current economic situation it all comes down to price.

I've been with SE for over a couple of years now.It's a brilliant company,though extremely expensive, in comparison to other companies like EoN, which is the one I've decided to move to, as with the latter I'll be saving £20/month.
