I have been an online direct debit customer for over 2 years, and I praise E.ON for their Customer Service, via a FREE telephone call centre, that goes direct to a real, UK based-person. The only criticism I have is that it is very difficult to keep up with the newest/ latest / cheapest- tariffs. I think even on their website it is difficult to work out the best choice. I only kept track, by using this comparison website!

E-on failed to bill me for 6 months becasue my Gas meter had gone round the clock, and it ' confused their system'. When they did, they then backdated my bill 14 months, leaving me owing £116. This was because they had reduced my direct debit based on their estimated reading. They offered me no explanation nor compensation. I switched within 10 minutes of putting down the phone to them.

After being with e-on for a year and a half I've had enough and I'm moving supplier. Myself and partner live in a 2 bedroom flat and due to working shifts we are only her about 1/2 a month and when were off where hardly in. In April I received a letter saying that they were in creasing my £58 a month bill to £125 !!!!!! I explained that this cannot be correct and received a credit for them and my direct debit stayed the same. I have now received another letter like this saying that they are increasing my direct debit again to £93 a month. I have asked them to check the meters in the flat and I have been told that I will have to pay £93.00 x 2 to do this !!! I have given up asking to speak to managers so I'm now looking to move.

I lived in a Economy 7 studio flat, and my bills from Powergen (Eon) were always extortionate... increasing to £50 a month when I barely even needed the heating on to keep warm (it was that small !!). I've now moved to a larger one bedroom flat, where although I am no longer economy 7, timed boiler (2-3hrs/day), & double glazed. My new estimated bill was £76 a month, even though I live on my own and am never there during the day. I refused this Direct Debit, and have been putting my readings in weekly. Fed up of calling them constantly, and worrying about another increase... I have now decided to switch suppliers to EDF as it turns out I can make a substantial saving with them... and who knows... they may even be able to estimate properly!

I was told they were going to increase my Direct Debit by 50%. I asked what other tarrifs were available and was told to transfer to their online extra and I would save £124 per year. WHY DIDN'T THEY TELL ME THAT WITHOUT ME HAVING TO ASK?????. Going to British Gas and should save £250 per year. I hope!!
