Far too inflexible

n-power hiked up my monthly direct debit from £88.00 per month to £113.00 per month after around 6 months, even though my account was in credit. I entered my meter readings online and also rang them with it. Nevertheless they refused to review my direct debit charge as they only review them every 6 months, apparently. They finally brought my monthly direct debit down to £45.00 per month because by this time, I was in credit by an amazing £405. This was my money and could have been earning interest for me - instead it was earning interest for them! The annual "discount" was awarded after 12 months, but the bill that allowed me to actually see it and the status of my account was not made available to me until October. I switched thereupon with all speed.

I wish I could give the staff at Npower a few lessons on customer service. these guys would probably do a better job in the circus!! been with n power now for a painstaking 5 years and for the last 2 years didnt recieve a bill, even after notifying them and then find out i have to stump up £3850, just paid up afetr being threatened to be taken to court. definately never coming back to them, steer well clear!!

Customer Service? What A Joke

Expensive - and very poor customer service - received the bill with an increase in monthly direct debit of 50%, despite acount being in credit, having spent 10 minutes on hold waiting for confirmation of new monthly direct amount, was told that amout would not change from the original amount - on receiving the new bill, the monthly amount was not as agreed on the phone - but had an increase of 10% on the original amount - after hanging on for so long, decided enough was enough and have now changed suppliers.

Totally unreliable and greedy

I spent an entire day of my annual leave, waiting for a meter reader to keep their appointment. They never turned up, and when I rung to complain was told I would have to do my own meter reading - something I could have done to start with. There was no apology for not keeping the appointment, and never any letter as promised explaining them not keeping the appointment. I now have discovered that my monthly direct debit for my gas has been trebled to £97, despite the fact that I only use gas for cooking as our boiler has not worked for some time. I have tried telling them this in 2 phonecalls, but as is typical of these companies they have their set answers to questions, and can not answer anything out the norm. I will be leaving as soon as I find a much better supplier who listens.

My payments doubled due to the fact that they didn't seem able to calculate effectively the amount I was using despite on numerous occasions me actually telling them the specific amounts that they should be charging. Their staff couldn't even work out how to convert cubic meters into Kwh..... Pretty basic knowledge that one would expect the company to teach their staff, who have to deal with customer queries on a daily basis... In summary, dealing with their inadequate staff and getting extremely fustrated with their complete lack of understanding has lead me to move my business else where in an attempt to get better customer service...
