This is the first review i have ever written about anything , having now left npower for a cheaper deal with BG I can tell you my experience,although roughly using £70 a month dual fuel , they insisted on putting my direct debit upto £200 .Now im leaving they owe me £950 in total,they sent me a final bill for my electric with £250 credit and transferred the money to my gas balance ,but said they were waiting to confirm my final gas reading ,they have now taken 6 weeks to get a final gas bill together. i was told when leaving to leave my direct debit open so i could get a refund quicker via direct debit.I left for BG on 26th of may , they took another payment 1st june. Now they say cheque in the post expect in 10-15 working days!!

I have used npower for around 3 years at two different homes. I have never had any problems and when I've needed to call with questions they have been very helpful. It was very easy to cancel my account when I moved house. I am posting this review as I am about to move and have been told my energy will be supplied by Spark Energy. this company has recieved terrible reviews and I thought I'd compare it with reviews of npower. I am starting to think people only write a review if the've had a bad experience, so I thought I'd let you know not every experience with npower is a bad one.

I joined npower last year after them quoting me a price of £50 per month for their sign online 19 dual fuel. Last month i recieved a bill for over £500 after phoning them they then told me they had miscalculated the monthly direct debit and i had to raise my direct debit to £80 the first time i then recieved another phone call off them to tell me that this wasn't enough and i needed to go up to over £130 a month. This just hasn't happened to me it has also happened to another 2 family members so over all very poor and would suggest to stay away

NPower needed to come into my home to perform a 'gas safety meter inspection' about 12 months after the meter was fitted. The first I realised they had to come in was from a note through the door asking me to make an appointment. Then I received another one the next day, and the next. I was particularly busy so for one reason or another didn't get around to making an appointment for a few weeks - I had 2 companies and NPower sending me threatening letters by that point saying they needed access to my property. I was not impressed at all and will be changing supplier. Especially as when the inspection was performed, the engineer stated the only reason they wanted to look at the meter was because my gas bill was low...

A letter from npower dated 6th April, 2011, informed me that they had read my meter and that the reading 'does not fit in with reads you have previously been billed to'. They supply both gas and electricity to my property under their Dual Fuel package, but they failed to inform me whether the discrepency lay with the gas or electricity meter. I read both meters myself and the readings follow on perfectly from the ones they took in December 2010. I've written to ask them to explain themselves & also sent an email to their Complaints Team, but they haven't even acknowledged receipt of my letter & it's now 7th May. They did, however, manage to cash the cheque I sent in payment within a couple of days (based on the readings I took). needless to say, I'm switching suppliers!
