It took 5 months for them to finalise my account and give me a bill after switching. Only ever received one call acknowledging my complaint but then never received call backs when promised. Offered me £50 as as gesture of good will which will cover my phone calls of calling to complain but i'm still on the wrong tariff!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have been a customer of NPower for a good few years except for a short break with Eon. I have had no trouble with my bills but as my present tariff was coming to an end this month I checked out Uswitch and NPowers Online 24 came out as best. Spoke to NPower customer service and they checked out my usage ('low user' thankfully) and what the options for me were. Their staff member (Donna) was extremely helpfull and advised that a change to Online 24 would be the best option for me, so Uswitch still works well. I know this appears to 'buck the trend' for other reviews I have read here but one good review deserves a mention.

One year with n.power was enough for me. The online service that is provided is a disgrace and npower has a cheek to call it that. E-mail queries about online bills, which amounted to 2 per yea,r were ignored. Npower calculate what the next years monthly payments will be, before deducting the online discount that is added at end of the year. My payments were to go up from £80 to £177. Total disgrace.

Several times I've had to ask for a refund when Npower were unable to control the payments they were taking from my direct debit. This time the company had in excess of 400 pounds spare and didn't give it back despite being given correct up to date meter readings. The excuse was that because the sum was so large they couldn't. Several weeks later and with no communication to let me know why the payment had not been made i had to ring again, the excess was now over 600 pounds, more excuses! they simply wouldn't let me have my money back. I cannot stay with such an apparently dishonest and uncooperative company. I've changed my supplier.

As an incentive to switch suppliers namely to Npower a £20 voucher is offered on the Argos Compare site but dont bother to try and claim it because Argos say that they have to be informed of the switch of supply by Npower. Npower however refuse to supply this information protesting that any disclosure of information about the account could be construed as a breach of the data protection act . As Argos will not accept any other proof of switch, this creates a situation where the voucher is unclaimable presumably because Npower do not wish to pay the commission incurred by such an offer. I cannot speak for other providers but this is what's happening with Npower
