I joined FU in October 2009 without any problem and the first three months billing was fine. Then I had no bills or parts of bills for all of 2010 and eventually a large bill at the beginning of 2011. I have been awaiting my dual fuel discount since 16th November 2011. The bill that month wrongly said I no longer had entitlement as I had breached their conditions and I am still awaiting payment of that even though I received the loyalty bonus in my bank on time. I would say that this is the most incompetent company I have ever dealt with and I will walk when I receive my cheque. I hope that causes no problems.

I signed up in December. The bill is wrong and after about eight attempts to get through to customer services I've given up. Emailed and not had a response eight days later. I'm going to get rid before I get my smart meter. Awful. Have just come from Eon and they were loads better.

Been with First Utlity 1 year, 26th July 2011 decided to change to smart meters, many calls from different people asking when I want them installed, engineers turning up without a pre-booking and recived calls asking when I want them installed when I already had them installed. From that date I have been receiving estimated gas bill which I only found out after serioudly looking at my bills in Oct 2011. Silly me, I trusted a supplier. Complained to First utility6th Oct, I keeped on chasing and received no solution all I got was the contact details of the enegry ombudsman. Smart meter still not working today and after me again chasing them I was told it maybe March. Customer service is so bad, dont belive them.Write it down, take their names, keep onto them.. Leave them

This company is a joke. I was with them for several years and in the beginning they were ok. Then for some reason they lost my gas supply and said that i had left. However they kept charging me for the gas up unti Jan 2011. After many many calls and being kept on hold, sending emails and still not getting any satisfaction i decided to leave and go to the co op. However this was not straight forward on first utility part. When I eventually got the final bill and i paid it low and behold they started charging me a monthly service charge of £4 as i did not have a direct debit. Again after many calls, complaints emails they said that they would get this problem sorted. HA HA... still waiting trying to get it sorted, Avoid at all costs Mickey mouse company.

Tried to switch to FU from the Moneysupermarket.com comparison. Filled in the application. Received a welcome mail with an order number, 'requiring more information'. Impossible to connect to either of the addresses in the mail. Rang the Customer Services number to be told 'they ? haven't completed the application', 'which tariff do you want, we can do it now over the phone'. Not on your life - if the system can't even sign people up in an easy, efficient way, what chance later with meter readings and bills. Can only score on this experience.
