My experience of changing from Scottishpower to Powergen (Dual Fuel) was absolutely appalling. Wrong finishing and starting readings were used. Both companies blamed each other for the errors, but after many phone calls I was able to sort out the mess of them both charging me for the same periods of use. I am now satisfied with the situation, but am seriously considering returning to quarterly payments for Gas and Electric USED and not to pay a fixed monthly amount. I have had as much as £230 in credit. I have not bothered to complain about this, as I appreciate that as we are approaching the winter my usage will go up, and will eat up this surplus.

I was with Powergen for years on a pre-payment meter and decided to change to DD payment to save money.....or so I was led to beleive. Powergen installed a meter that was eventually found to be running almost 10% fast! I argued with them over mounting arrears (totalling over £700) for almost 2 years before it was sorted out, and it was only properly investigated after I involved energy watch. Rubbish service and expensive even with a properly functioning meter. I would never reccomend them in a million years, they only score 1 for customer sevice because they at least answer the phone when you call, even if they are no help what so ever!

At first was a little disappointed as they were going to charge me the same amount as my previous supplier and I had changed to save money! I have got that rectified and specified what I feel I should pay. I am about to submit readings so will now find out about their service

I have just received electricity renewal offer from Powergen this morning,29-8-07, but the letter was dated 23-8-07. I assume the reason for the delay is to give less time to reply. The letter states that if a reply is not received by 6-9-07 they will assume the terms are accepted and the contract will continue. What if I had been on holiday, as was the case last year when exhorbitant price increases were imposed. It would simply have happened again and once in it is impossible to get out. SIX DAYS IS NOT SUFFICIENT NOTICE !!!

Have been with powergen for last 4 years, prices are too high; never seemed to provide accurate billing. Every time it is us that we had to claim for DD & Dual Fuel discounts. When we moved to new supplier, we found out from the bill that our meter number represents economy 7. I explained new supplier that we never ever had any economy 7 and they agreed to replace our meter. Sould Powergen mentioned it to us that we were in economy 7, we would have get it replaced and been charged cheaper rate. We are not expect to judge which one is economy and which one is not. Now, I can see that out of two readings, one is constant for last four years since we bought the property and powergen acknowledged this fact. Unfortunately powergen don't want to refund any money because we left them. What a con!
