From now on it’s E.ON. As of December 3rd 2007 Powergen became E.ON, one of the world's largest investor owned energy companies, who is committed to changing energy for the better. That means they want to change where we get energy from, how we receive it and how we use it more efficiently.

In the UK, E.ON’s generation business produces enough electricity to cater for the needs of around eight million homes. E.ON is one of the leading green generators, with 21 wind farms located from Cornwall to Northern Ireland and has recently finished building the UK’s largest dedicated biomass power stations at Lockerbie.

E.ON is currently developing one of the world's largest offshore wind farms, which will be built here, in UK waters.

when we joined them, we queried the monthly direct debit amount they set up. we thought it was too low for our house (£42 dual fuel) and they wouldn't budge. 8 months down the line, they sent a letter telling us they were increasing it to £143! we called them to complain and try to bring it down, we succeeded in increasing it to £147! they wanted the "£400 debt" paying off before the end of our year with them. so we have been forced into these payments. we have paid £300 off the debt and the payments are now £110. we repeatedly gave them our readings and asked if we were paying enough and they said all was OK. obviously they haven't got a clue.

Overall

No real problems except that often you do not receive a bill, then a reminder after the 3% discount date has expired. You are told that a bill had been sent but you must have mislaid it. I think that the post I get with advertising is supposed to contain the bill, not so.

Overall

Switch was handled smoothly. Initial direct debits were set too high, but that was fixed with one phone call. Only switching away now because of price.

Overall

Although i am about to move from eon, it is a decision i have made purely on price. Eon are no longer my cheapest provider though it must be said that i have found them to be so efficient and helpful that i was tempted to stay with them despite them not being the cheapest. I will be surprised if my next supplier matches in terms of customer service!

Known as the Fuel Mix Disclosure, suppliers publish this information annually and distribute with their bills, statements or promotional material.
