The two biggest problems were reading bills and high pricing BG sells themselves on service but it was almost impossible to get a clear statement. Their online service often gave contadictory statements of balance of payments at anytime. Telephone representatives couldn't explain this. The BIG problem is PRICE. The much vaunted price cuts (2009) were for publicity only and resulted in leaving their prices much higher than many competitors.

I went dual-fuel with BG earlier this year, and thought I had a good tariff, their on-line 1. Now I find that this tariff is not even listed, and their on-line 4 does not come close to the best buys. So I am switching. And when I phoned BG, I found that over the past 8 months I was in credit to the tune of well over £420, and they telll me that it might take up to 8 weeks for a refund. Just when I need the money!

What an appalling company, they were already supplying the flat that I moved into but it took me 6 months to finally get my energy supplier sorted during which time I made numerous phone calls asking for a bill to be set up so I could start paying, they finally sent me one 6 months after I moved in saying I could spread the payments over a few months. Then 3 weeks later I've had 2 phone calls in 4 days badgering me for payment, saying I'm going to be charged late payment fees if I dont hurry up and pay and they were decidely unsympathetic when I tried to explain everything. Needless to say, despite the hassle I'm swapping supplier.

British Gas has certainly gone down hill in customer service and reliability of services and billing. Still after 2 months of joining they have not got my account correct. Numerous calls to customer service to sort the situation is ongoing. I wouldn't recommend this supplier, it is not worth the hassle.

Complete rubbish! They didn't send bills on time, but I receive phone calls from Debt collection team, chasing me for payment 5 days after bill was issued. The woman lituraly shouted at me, was extremely rude and told me if I don't pay immediately she will apply £14 late charges( when I had 14 days to pay for the bill). All my attempts to try and clarify how long I have to pay this bill, were completely ignored as she carried on talking over me in raised voice. Ridiculous customer service!!! after 1st time this happen I called up complaints help line, and was offered£40 not to cancel my accounts. But a week later I receievd another phone call, in the same manner regading next bill, which was only issued 4 days before. Will never recommend British gas to anyone!!!!
