I regularly make purchases with Amazon. I have only ever had one problem, which was with one of their Amazon retailers, rather than directly with them. However, with Amazon backing up the refund requests, I received a refund very promptly. I normally use Amazon for all Book purchases, and I've also used their wrapping service in the past. For anyone thinking of using Amazon, but has any hesitations, I would definately say to use Amazon. Credit cards and paypal type organisations give so much security to the buyer, internet shopping is the way of the future, especially with books, cd's, etc, where you can see everything you need to see from pictures.
