A bad experience

Got S70 at xmas and registered for 2009 map updates. 6 months later satnav not working and sent for repair, no satnav for whenever, current maps now out of date, not allowed free map update as cannot provide evidence of update online registration, now have to pay £70 for update, only bought navman over tom tom because of free update. Reccommend Navman - never.

peice of junk

seemed ok when i got it, though not as good as my old nav gear, which had started to become slow for some reason.but i persevered and got use to it, and would have said it was 'ok' ish, if asked.but tother day, after 2 - 3 months of occasional use, i took it out of the bag and found that the on/off/reset button had been switched accidentally to the reset position. and it wll not work, there is nothing on the cd nor in the manuall and i have searched online. also when i plug it in to pc it stalls the pc. maybe it is not compatable with vista. I emailed support who say that if it has been damaged it is not covered by warranty, yet i clearly stated that the problem was just that it had been switched to reset. the reset switch should NEVER be that available that it can be accidentally switched

Satnav gone wrong

Bought this from Argos as these were commisioned for them the mapping is out of date the safety cameras are out of date and it took 7 hours to get from Bournemouth to Great Yarmouth as the traffic alert detoured me to heathrow terminal 5 arrivals. Customer Support is non existant as is the likely hood of any future updates. (None on their website) Here is the response to my problem solving email. I 'm really sorry to hear that the maps are not so up to date . Try to reinstall the software and the maps via the software that was in the box. Thank you for taking the time to contact us. The software is pre-installed so that really helps. Do yourself a favour buy a tom tom.

Ok but not great

I've had one of these for a while and it's alright, but not great. It's slow to recalculate routes and it's also very inconsistent in telling you about multiple turns in a row. Very annoyingly when you take an exit off the motorway it only tells you where to go next when you're pretty much at the junction. If it's a roundabout with more than one approach lane you're likely to be in the wrong one by the time it tells you where you should go. It also seems to measure exit distances to the end of the slip road, so that when it tells you there is 300 yards to the exit you're actually right on top of it. All these little things make it annoying and very frustrating to use. Even though I have one of these I don't leave the house without a map book.
