Fry tops the poll ahead of Barack Obama, Richard Branson and Cheryl Cole. Fry's irreverent 'tweeting' on Twitter seems to have been a big influence with 81 per cent of his fans saying they'd like to call him for a general chit chat.

Given Jordan's recent split from Peter Andre, it's surprising to see over a quarter (27 per cent) of those calling her want to chat about romance. A fifth (20 per cent) of those wanting to call Jeremy Clarkson plan to share a rant with the infamous motor mouth and Cheryl Cole seems to be the person people will turn too to talk about sex (38 per cent).

The comedian's Twittering has endeared him to the public and cemented his position as a national treasure.
