Commenting on Caxtonfx abolishing transaction and withdrawal fees, Peter Harrison, travel money expert at moneysupermarket.com said:

"This is a great move by Caxtonfx, improving the attractiveness of a prepaid card if you're heading abroad.

"However, Nationwide's debit card is still likely to offer the best value to those wanting to withdraw money from a cash machine overseas. Despite the fact the building society has recently started levying a fee for withdrawals made outside Europe, our research shows that Nationwide consistently offers better exchange rates than the prepaid card providers. That said, if you don't have a Nationwide current account a prepaid card from Caxtonfx is a great alternative.

"This is a fast growing market and other prepaid providers aren't likely to sit back and let Caxtonfx jump so far ahead, so expect competitors to follow suit and improve the value of their offerings. If you're going on holiday this summer, a prepaid card is definitely worth considering."
