Moneysupermarket.com has enhanced its motor and home insurance propositions by adding Churchill, Privilege and Virgin Money to its panel of insurers.

Drivers looking for car insurance can now compare prices and policy details from 97 insurers and brokers - more than any other major comparison site - while the number of insurers on the home insurance panel has increased from 46 to 50 (in addition to the three insurers mentioned above Privilege Platinum is now on the home insurance panel).

Andy Leadbetter, managing director of insurance at moneysupermarket.com, said: "Customer feedback tells us that choice and clear and impartial information about insurance policies is important and we want to deliver this. We are constantly expanding and upgrading our service so consumers get exactly what they need as quickly and efficiently as possible."

It is well worth shopping around for insurance. Recent research from Consumer Intelligence, an independent market research company, found that motorists could save an average of £155.20 a year on the cost of their car insurance by using moneysupermarket.com.

And it's not only price that you need to compare. As well as comparing the cost of insurance from different providers it is also important to check the level of cover - you may find it's worth paying slightly more for a policy offering greater protection. Moneysupermarket's home and motor insurance tools enable you to compare up to five policies in detail as well as the opportunity to read customer reviews so that you make a well-informed choice when choosing which insurance policy to go for.
