Motorcyclists are being offered the chance to take advantage of significant discounts on their insurance by completing a Government-backed training scheme.

The Enhanced Rider Programme (ERS) has been launched to make qualified motorcyclists safer on the road and cut the number of fatal and serious injury road accidents on our roads each year.

A host of major insurance companies, including AXA and Norwich Union, are backing the scheme by promising substantial discounts to riders who are able to show they can ride to the ERS standard.

The course has been developed by the Driving Standards Agency and the Motorcycle Industry Association and is designed to help meet the Government Motorcycling Strategy targets.

The launch of the voluntary Register of Post Test Motorcycle Trainers has been welcomed by the motorcycling community with more than 239 post-test trainers having already registered nationwide.
