The 12 deals of Christmas

1. Bag extra bonus points

Our first deal of Christmas is the AA credit card. It lets you bolt on 2,000 points (that's the equivalent of £20 to spend in Boots, M&S or B&Q) when you spend on the card within 60 days of the account opening. This card has a representative annual percentage rate (APR) of 16.9% (variable).

2. Free £30 Amazon voucher with balance transfer card

We've got an exclusive deal with Barclaycard: take out the Barclaycard Platinum with extended balance transfer card offering 0% on balance transfers for 22 months, transfer a balance of £3,000 or more between December 1- 24 and get an Amazon voucher worth up to £30.

After the introductory period ends, this card has a representative APR of 17.5% (variable).

3. Moving your mortgage

As financial commitments go, the mortgage is a biggie. Switch from an expensive rate to a cheaper deal and you can slash hundreds off your monthly payments.

If your bank balance can cope with a rise in rates, staying on a lenders' low standard variable rate or a tracker could save you cash. But if you reckon rates will rise and money's a bit tight, skip to a fixed rate and you'll have the benefit of knowing exactly what your monthly payments are.

The market-leading three year fixed rate at 2.89% is available exclusively via MoneySupermarket from Chelsea Building Society.
