Churchill, famed for its nodding dog, began operations in 1989 selling car insurance before expanding to offer home insurance (also known as ‘house insurance’ or ‘household insurance’) in 1990. It is an entirely UK based company.

The Churchill guarantee states that it will beat your renewal price with a cheaper quote by £30 no matter who you are insured with – as long as it is like-for-like cover and you have been claim free for the last three years. Additionally, the company offers 35% off when you buy online.

Churchill offers both buildings insurance and contents insurance. Its contents cover goes up to £40,000 while its buildings insurance cover expands up to £250,000. There is a discount of up to 25% when you buy both buildings and contents insurance together. The company also provides a 24hr claims and emergency helpline, and with its contents cover you will be protected for up to £4,000 on business equipment and up to £4,000 on both Christmas and wedding gifts, and up to £2,000 on thefts from garages or outbuildings.

Among the optional extras available is home emergency legal protection with up to £50,000 of cover available, full accidental damage cover for your home or its contents and cover for personal possessions taken outside the home.
