Domestic & General has been protecting people’s possessions for over 50 years. Their Heatguard Repair Protection Plan provides breakdown protection for boiler and controls or boiler, controls and system (radiators and exposed pipes). An annual service can be added to either product. Protection is available for most combination and condensing boilers under 8 years’ old and conventional boilers under 15 years old. You must be a UK resident, and your boiler must be in good working order. At present they are unable to protect oil boilers. There is no pre-inspection, and breakdown protection for your boiler will start 30 days after your acceptance date.

Heating Cover Ratings

Boiler packed up on Dec 22nd. One call in to the call centre in the evening (very helpful staff), and a plumber / Heating engineer appeared the next morning. Turned out to be scale damage that had built up and the problem was quickly rectified. Great service and would thoroughly recommend!

I guess the service depends on their approved plumber for your area.I recently had a leak from a Potterton Promax Condensing boiler 4yrs old.The ''o'' ring seal on the manifold was decayed.(lousy materials) It took several visits including one from the boss to locate the leak but as soon as he saw it he ordered the part from Baxi/Potterton and it was fixed withn a few days.Also got a follow up call to ensure it was alright. Their plumbers for this area of NW London/Middx are Plumbwright of Northwood. I agree with other comments that theD&G 9-5 Mon-Friday syndrome is hardly an emergency service. Also other parts of the system like the Heatrae Sadia pressurised water tank are not included in the cover or service agreement.

No emergency call out! called them on a Frday morning and sould only get a repair on the Monday. even then it's a 9-5 slot. I'll be looking round again this year for a different supplier.

Heating Cover Ratings

Great cover if your heating system only breaksdown Monday to Friday betwen 9 and 5, which is the only time anyone will ever answer the phone or come out to fix your system. It is MUCH quicker to phone a random plumber from Yellow pages than wait for these guys to have a plumber available.(Unless 3 days with no heating in winter is acceptable to you??) I would strongly advise you go elseware....
