No so good for low credit score
I have a low credit score due to one misleading entry on my credit report which is taking time to get fixed. So I applied for a Capital One card for bad credit - and they turned me down.

Very good for first timers!
I moved to the UK 3 years ago.Since then, I have always been saving money and managing my finances. It was very depressing though that I had always been refused credit as I never had been offered credit before. With this card I will build on my credit rating. It is a good card as long as you pay your balance in full, each month. Customer service is also very friendly and helpful!

Great Service
I have had my Capital one card for almost a year now and have never had any problems. Customer service has always been excellent and friendly. I have a poor credit rating and they offered me a card which is improving my credit rating slowly but surely. I would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to build or rebuild their credit rating. The only downside is the credit limit offered and they haven’t even offered to increase mine even though i pay my balance of in full every month.

Pushy & rude call centre staff
I have just closed my Capital One account. I transferred the balance from my other credit card account because of the good rate offered by Capital One for balance transfers. I have paid off my balance in full within 7 months of transfer. Just been fined £12 because my final payment was 1 day late (because due date of 1st Jan was a bloody bank holiday!). Was hounded on the 'phone about this by call centre member of staff, who then tried to persaude me to take more credit. If I'd actually be struggling to pay this would have been irresponsible. Rubbish service, off to what I hope will be a better level of service elsewhere.

Good for 1st timers
If you haven't got a credit history this is a good card, for starting off as long as you pay the payments on time.

Very Pleased
I have been with Capital One for over a year now and have nothing bad to say about them. I have always felt that their customer service department have been very good. And when I fell into financial difficulty they were very understanding and helped me through it whilst still keeping my account.

Good for purchases
Good low long term interest rate on purchases (although increase is due in spite of lower bank rate) Do NOT use this card to draw cash. (Interest rate much higher) or use the credit card cheques Capital One will send you, as these are charged at the cash rate whatever it says on the cheque! (+ handling fee). As with most credit cards, when you make payments to the account, you will pay the highest interest charges LAST. I've always got through to customer services on the phone without a long wait. Have been with Capital One for about 15 years. Any credit card is expensive if you don't pay the full balance off monthly, but this one is better than many if you use it for purchasing only.

poor if your a good customer
Been with Cap 1 now for over 3yrs. had bad credit rating when i joined so they only gave me £200 limit and apr of 18.9%. 3years on and I ALWAYS CLEAR BALANCE IN FULL every month. I now have credit limit of £2400 down side is they hiked my apr upto 35.9%, so Ive transferred to PayPal (GE MONEY) credit card, they gave me credit limit of £2500 with an apr of 20.9% straight away.

Disappointing
Online payment reminders don't work. Customer services staff not helpful. Online account is locked for no reason. I have changed to another company after 4 months of disappointing service.

Avoid
It's a draw you in, then offer you something poor. I have good cedit rating, was drawn in like a sucker to be given a poor deal. Then only offered a credit limit of £200! What use is that?! Avoid, Avoid, Avoid!!

Second class customer
My Credit card was cancelled by Capital One due to a security breach at an online shop Ihad used. EXCELLENT just what a sensible card would do. However after a week i still dont have a new card when I rang I was told it had been sent out 2nd class post. presumably once you are a customer you become a second class customer! Think I'll transfer to another card!

i think they are very understanding and are very compansionate towards you.
advantags are manily that they have low intrest rate, so i think they have. they dont put hassle on you and you can rely on them and they can rely on you and they have a good customers relationship that perhaps other banks don’t have. disvantage is that i can withdraw money from atm but iam charged for that.

no particular advantages or disadvantages, I have no loyalty to any credit card I simply look for the cheapest option. I wouldn’t recommend a credit card to family or friends, use of a credit card is entirely a personal choice.

The main reason for taking on the card was for their initial high rate of cashback. This has reduced to a normal level now but the card has done everything I’ve asked of it so I still use it.
