About BMW

BMW is one of Germany's most established car manufacturers and is the parent company of the BMW, MINI and Rolls Royce brands. In the early part of this decade, BMW undertook a series of vehicle redesigns under the guidance of design chief Christopher Bangle. BMW's sales have since increased year on year, proving the buying public has embraced the new design philosophy.

The current BMW model range is split into 'series', traditionally referred to by a single digit e.g. 5 Series. The M letter was used prior to the introduction of the 'series' range as a means of identifying special 'Motorsport' models, the first of which was the M1 supercar. The M letter later evolved into a prefix for BMW's top of the range models.
