Car Insurance

Updated: Periodically. Details correct at the time of publication – May, 2007.

From humble beginnings in April 1995 with car insurance (also known as ‘Direct Line motor insurance’) as its sole product, to now more than five million customers and a wide range of services, Direct Line has come a long way. However, it has never lost sight of its original focus and it remains one of the leading UK car insurance companies.

There are numerous discounts that accompany a Direct Line car insurance policy. This includes zero per cent interest free installments available on new car insurance policies and a ten per cent discount when you buy online.

Direct Line car insurance recognises every year that your named drivers haven’t made a claim on your car insurance policy and if you’re hit by an uninsured driver Direct Line will cover your excess and your no-claims discount will not be affected.

The company offers optional extras including a guaranteed hire car and legal protection up to £100,000. The no-claims discount is 30 per cent after one year and rises to 65 per cent after five years. If you are aged over 50, you will benefit from a 70 per cent no-claims discount after five years. As an added assurance you are permitted to make one claim within any year or two claims in a three year period and your discount will be protected.
