When it comes to shaking up an industry, Sky could be seen as one of the leaders in the field. Its influence on television and digital services in the UK has been extensive - and now it has taken that super-power status into the world of broadband.

It's no surprise then that Sky broadband has helped to revolutionise what we expect from our internet service and it offers some of the best bundled deals in the market.

In addition, Sky offers its 'See, Surf and Speak' range which allows you to combine broadband, TV and phone services - these are available to people who are willing to sign up to Sky TV.

Who is Sky broadband ideal for?

If you're considering becoming a Sky TV customer you can make massive savings by signing up to one of these Sky broadband deals. The various See, Surf and Speak mixes are huge money savers and are among the most competitive convergence deals around with the bonus of having Sky's complete television service to choose from.

What do you need?

  • A compatible BT phone line.
  • PC users: A spare Ethernet port; 100Mb of hard drive space; 64Mb RAM or higher; 133MHz or higher and Windows 2000 or a higher version.
  • Mac users: A spare Ethernet port; a processor - 266MHz Power PC G3 or higher; OS X v10.2.6 (Jaguar) or higher; 128Mb of RAM.

What else does Sky have to offer?

There are lots of extras with Sky broadband including a wireless router worth more than £50, a free 12 months subscription to McAfee internet security suite and dedicated 24/7 support. You can also choose between free self-installation and professional home installation for £50.

Sky broadband is unquestionably one of the leaders in the broadband 'bundle' market. Customers who already have Sky TV have the incentive to add-on broadband at money-saving prices, while non-customers who are interested in Sky can make massive savings by merging all three services (phone, broadband, TV) under one roof. These deals are proof of how far the broadband industry has moved in favour of the consumer.

Absolutely Rubbish

Broadband Ratings

Do not subscribe to Sky if you have any sense. We were paying for a faster download, up to 5 meg, but cancelled when we found out we was getting up to 1 meg only - but Sky still took the money. Now that we have cancelled we get 0.4 of a meg and we can't download anything, if we can it takes days! We would like to change but we are on a new housing estate with BT installation so Virgin cannot instal because they are not allowed to enter BT ducting and if they do BT will cut it, allegedly. Also if you have any problems it is a nightmare getting through on the telephone and when you do eventually speak to somebody you get told what you want to hear and then nothing gets resolved. You have been warned.

Horrendous customer service

Sky Broadband - I wouldn't have any problem recommending this on the privso that you never have to contact Sky with any query. Their customer support is the worst I have experienced in many many years. Suffice to say we're no longer with Sky and won't ever be going back...

The worst customer service EVER

I ordered my phone line from Sky Talk on 10th July 2009. Today is 5th October and I STILL do not have a phone line from them. Apparently the problem is that they can't get our address to match the BT register they use, however I have heard the most outrageous excuses for this not being resolved yet, including 'our system just doesn't like some orders and yours is one of them'. Computer systems do not have emotions!! I have spoken to so many different managers, supervisors etc, sent 4 complaint emails with no response and spent over £100 on calls from my mobile trying to sort this out and they still could not give a damn. The only other option I have is BT but after a similar experience with them I have no option than to hold out for Sky. AVOID THEM! THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS!!!

Paying for 10mgps, getting 0.5 mgps

Broadband Ratings

Took over a month to get connected, and they didn't tell us that we would have to pay extra each month because we live in a rural area. Apalling customer service. Truly shocking. And having done several speed tests I realise I am getting very little for what I pay for. Avoid if you possibly can.
