With so many cheap broadband deals available, it's difficult to find one without a long-term contract that still lives up to expectations.

But what if you could secure cheap broadband without the risk of being stuck in a contract? Well now you can, as one provider has launched a new range of affordable products that do not force you into a long-term contract.

The provider in question is PlusNet - one of the oldest internet service providers in the country, and one that is built on a solid customer reputation. For those of you unfamiliar with the provider, the PlusNet brand was actually launched back in 1997 but was bought out by BT Retail towards the end of 2006.

The PlusNet name was kept because it had such an outstanding reputation. But the products have now been redefined to place more emphasis on convergence and improved customer support.

Who is PlusNet broadband ideal for?

PlusNet broadband products are ideal for users that want a fast and reliable service without contractual commitments.

PlusNet Option One is a pay-as-you-go product that suits the occasional user who will reap rewards for not being tied into a fixed cost. PlusNet Option Two is ideal for the regular internet user whereas Options Three and Four offer additional advantages such as bigger download capacities for very heavy users.

What do you need?

  • A BT phone line.
  • A USB modem or a wireless router.
  • PC users need Windows Millennium 2000 or above. Mac users require 8/9 or higher, or Mac OSX.

What else does PlusNet have to offer?

In addition to its broadband internet services, PlusNet has a number of home phone deals that can be tied to the broadband packages. For example, the home phone anytime deal allows the user to cover the cost of calls to UK landlines and the top 20 international destinations, including line rental. If tied to a broadband package, the PlusNet customer will receive just one combined monthly bill.

What’s interesting about these products is not only the choice - the deals are also clear and transparent. These aren't unlimited offers with strict 'fair use' policies - these deals tell you how much you can download and let you pick the right option for you.

For so many users cheap broadband deals have been overshadowed by poor customer service and problems when attempting to change to new products. Now this risk has been removed - and for that, PlusNet broadband products get the thumbs-up.

Couldn't get connected at all, still charged me full price every month, wrote and told them I have canceled DD for lack of service, took money off my credit card, 9 months without broadband and payed for the privilege, rubbish tech support who got stroppy when I suggested it was their fault, they blamed BT, switched to BT and have had excellent service off them.

Superb ISP

I've been with Plusnet for about 5 months and so far had a faultless service. I've looked around recently for a cheaper service, credit crunch and all that, but looking at the poor reviews for these cheaper ISP's I think I'll stay where I am.

Having just changed from Orange (nightmare!) I would like to say well done PlusNet on a great service. Fast internet, free wireless router which workes great, free voip calls, customer service in this country and if you do need to contact them they get back to you pretty quick (compared to orange who just don't reply!). They also have a forum that you can use fot all type of techy stuff. Emailed every step of the way through connection. All in all - one happy bunny!

Was with plusnet for 4 years never had a problem, but figured I'd try virgin, sucked in by nice and cheap all in one package, all was well, text me to let know how it was all going, and then, we were connected wow!! Even videos on youtube wouldn't load, really really bad speed, what was going on? Called them sat in que for ave 40 mins 5 or 6 timesto be told it's your comp or your phone line etc etc, anyway it was painful so came back, the day I was reconnected speed went from 500k to 5500k so make your own conclusion the even have a quicker connection if your into gaming etc, in case your considering tryin a company with billions of customers they cant handle that appear to have servers that grind to a halt under the traffic the whole leaving and coming back process is around 3 months !!! of pain!!!
