Pipex dates back to 1991 - around the time that the internet started to explode in popularity. It has a history in dial-up and hosting but it is Pipex broadband that has really put the company on the map and it is the fourth largest provider of broadband services in the UK now that it is owned by Tiscali.

Just as Pipex was at the forefront of internet technologies back in 1991, Pipex broadband is now a leader in the changing direction of how we use our telecommunications services with many phone deals tied in with its broadband packages.

Who is PIPEX broadband ideal for?

Pipex appears to have catered for all users with its range of packages. The hometime and anytime deals will attract callers who want to make savings on their phone bills based on when they traditionally make calls. Pipex Mini is a good starter package that has a perfectly adequate download cap for the majority of users while Pipex Max is aimed at professionals that are constantly online.

What do you need?

  • A Pipex or BT home phone line (not available on Kingston Communications or cable).
  • A computer with a CD-ROM drive.
  • A USB modem or a wireless router . You can get a free modem and two free micro filters with the Pipex starter pack.
  • Windows 98 or higher; or Mac 8.6, 9.x, 10.x up to and including 10.3.

What else does PIPEX have to offer?

All of the Pipex broadband packages come with a free modem, free connection and anti-virus software and firewall. If you choose to take out the anytime call package with your broadband deal, Pipex proudly boasts that you can make savings up to 33% on mobile calls compared to BT; and savings up to 98% on international calls.

There is no denying that these are value-for-money packages, particularly for anyone looking to tie in a phone deal. Pipex is one of the fastest growing providers in the UK and has earned recognition for rewarding customer loyalty. So this might be one provider worth joining for the long-haul.

Pathetic, Pathetic, Pathetic Pipex

Broadband Ratings

We have been customers of Pipex for over 8 years now and never have we experienced such bad service. Even in the days of dial-up we had faster downloading speeds than what we're experiencing now with Broadband. How can a company stay in business when their service is so appalling? Please Pipex/Tiscali, either pull up your socks or get out of the business and let someone who is actually going to provide adequate bandwidth have the customers!

I had fast connection but was dropping all time. i was rebooting my router everyday. i've called them and they blamed my router and my filter. i've changed all of them and they blamed my phone line. BT tests my line ok. i switch to an other provide which solved my issues.... I'm an IT person who knows his stuff!!! The Techn support advised me to take IT courses :-) Avoid them would be my only advice

Never Again

Broadband Ratings

Have just left Pipex after a dissapointing 18 months. I kept losing the internet connection due to an 'error 721' which meant I had to spend hours on their helplines which are not free. Every time you call they tell you to wait for 2 hours and if the problem is not fixed to call back. Customer service was poor and sometimes downright rude. Gave them a months notice that I was switching to another supplier, as per contract, and wanted to take the number with me. they cut me off the next day and I lost the number. I asked them to reconnect me and they refused. Would never recommend them or go back.

Broadband Ratings

Ive been with Pipex for over 6 years. Until jan this year they have been reasonable, occasional slow days but generally ok. Since Jan however my connection has gradually dropped from 5-6mb to about 1mb, and for the last month i have struggled to get 100kbs, with it getting as bad as 25kbs some evenings. customer services have been no help and now seem to be ignoring my emails. Im leaving pipex to join plusnet.

Very Reliable, Quick and Helpful Service

Broadband Ratings

I have been with Pipex for about 3 years and i must say i have never had a problem with the reliability or the speed of my broadband connection. They even turned up the speed from my orginal 1Mb line to 2MB when they improved there systems for free. I also see they had changed there packages they offered and ran there customer services who where quite happy to give me the same deal as an existing customer as the new customer offers. THey are a little bit dearer than some but not bu alot and as the saying goes, "You get what you pay for". In my experience a fast, reliable customer focused service.
