Direct Save Telecom was established in 1999 and originally offered savings on line rental and phone calls. Now it has joined the broadband market, offering cut-price broadband services combined with some of the cheapest phone call packages on the market.

Direct Save Telecom offers a number of phone call packages to users including capped calls, free off-peak calls and free calls all day long. Also available are two Direct Save Telecom broadband packages that combine these free calls with super-fast broadband:

Who is Direct Save Telecom broadband ideal for?

Anyone looking to combine phone and broadband services should take a look at the Direct Save Telecom deals. By introducing Option Four Pro, the company now caters for very heavy internet users. So if you're not happy with your current phone/broadband bills take a look at these deals to see if you could save cash.

What do you need?

  • A BT telephone line in a broadband area supplied by Direct Save Telecom.
  • A USB Modem and two micro filters to connect to your PC or Mac - these are supplied free of charge by Direct Save Telecom. Option Four includes a free modem and Option Four Pro includes a free router.
  • PC users need Windows 98SE or above. Mac users require OS 8.6, 9 and X.
  • If you are currently a cable customer the company will need to install a new telephone line (costing just £116.32). This will allow you to retain your existing number.

What else does Direct Save Telecom have to offer?

One of the main advantages of a Direct Save Telecom deal is that contracts only last for 28 days. This means that you are not tied in for a lengthy period if a better deal comes along or you are not satisfied with the company's service.

Additionally, Direct Save Telecom offers free webspace (25Mb on Option Four; 50Mb on Option Four Pro), free webmail and static IP addresses. There is a set-up fee of £40 for both packages.

Though many users are reluctant to change to a new phone service, the limited contracts with Direct Save Telecom negate the risk factor. With cheap deals that cover all internet users, low-cost line-rental and large call savings it's well worth checking these offers out at your home.

Absolutley Terrible Broadband

Broadband Ratings

I have had a very slow broadband connection now for over a Year. Never getting above 1meg. My brother in law works for BT has checked all the lines as a favour, we should be getting 7.5meg where we are. Between 6pm and 10pm it gets so slow that it struggles to open websites before timing out. Technical support basically admitted that's as good as it's going to get (but only after I'd told them BT had checked it, they were blaming the line before that, Sales say it should be better, but that's it, nothing ever changes. Now trying to cancel my contract, hopefully that will go better than it has for some of the other people who have reviewed them. I would not recomend at all for broadband. Phone line with them seems fine though.

Please Please don't take out this contract. Broadband service was fair though a little pricey, an absolute nightmare when it came to closing account, gave our 1 months written request to cancel back in March 08 it is now the end of may and we are still trying to cancel oh and by the way we are still being charged monthly for a service we are not using. AWFUL COMPANY I ADVISE TO STAY AWAY.

Still the best deal

Broadband Ratings

We chose DST after lots of research and wanted a bundled package with phone. Easy set up, really helpful tech support and never off line. Slightly slower since we started well over a year ago - about 2 or 3 mbps generally - not 8! Clear itemised billing. Cheap and works - what else can you ask for?

Hardly ever worked

Broadband Ratings

When we commenced broadband with Direct save telecom it was faulty from the beginning, most of time it just wouldnt work at all when it did occasionally work it was terribly slow and the rest of the time a notice would appear from BT broadband wholesale telling us to contact our supplier we did , many times, it still didnt work properly if at all after many many phone calls to them complaining, a member of staff finally agreed to refund us part of the money we had paid for broadband and cancel the service , nothing ever happened they completely done nothing whatever to to address any of our complants there are more , accounting errors , and they charged us for a new line when we moved next door even though it was the same number. Also there were outside line faults they still charged

Very Pleased

Broadband Ratings

Customer service always helpful. (wish they had longer hours) Tech support are tops. Even called weeks later to check an issue I reported was resolved. Billing is a bit primative, but has always been correct. Speed good Reliability reasonable. Any issues were down the the line.
