In addition, connection is free and you get 24hr online support.

Though the contracts are lengthy these deals are well worth consideration particularly as they offer so many added incentives. AOL broadband clearly offers some of the most competitive and cost-effective packages on the market at the moment.

Dreadful service

I used AOL for around two years. At the beginning the service was good but during the last few months it became very unreliable. This introduced me to the joys of dealing with AOL "Technical support". It can take ages to get through. What is really bad though is the way they treat you when you do finally manage to get an answer. For example, I got one woman after listening to muzak for god knows how long. Yes! I thought finally through! Err, no... I said what the problem was etc. and she then just left. I could hear all the background noise in the call centre and hung on for ten minutes, just hoping for her to come back. The next one tried to give me a new router which would have locked me into a new contract and she was rather misleading about that little detail.

Changing from PIPEX who have gone down the pan since being bought out by the abominable Tiscali, and the PS3 offer seemed to good to turn down! Put all my years of hearing bad things about AOL behind me and went for it. Mistake... the website wouldn't take my history of addresses, so it took 5 phone calls, 7 different people and over an hour on the phone at my cost to get it sorted. I cancelled PIPEX and phoned in the MAC code to AOL the next day. For the next week I got pestered with letters - registered so I had to collect from the PO - and daytime phone messages to home - not mobile - asking for a MAC code! So I cancelled the service thanks to reviews here and this was a major effort. 5 more phone calls and now finally I'm delighted with O2 Home Broadband! AOL: just say no...

A BIG DISSAPOINTMENT!!!!

I have been an AOL customer for a year.... the first 8 months were satisfactory until i cudnt connect to the internet via AOL. Apparently there was a fault with the software. After many long hours at the fone nearly every day for a week and being hung up, unable to understand what they are saying (india call center), being put on hold i finally got thru to someone who knew what they were saying apart from "im very sorry for that". I was then able to connect to the internet using explorer and only if i plug the ethernet cable into my laptop. I would only reccommend AOL to those who will enjoy recieving the service above....NEVER AGAIN AOL!!!!

great broadband service + a free laptop!

Broadband Ratings

I recently joined AOL broadband and took their free laptop offer. The customer service while setting up the account was terrific. I'm not very technical so have made good use of their free technical support. The tech support staff are very helpful and friendly. No complaints about the broadband service either. I could thoroughly recommend them.

Total Rubbish!

Was With Aol Since Around 2000 When We Was On Dial Up And Had No Problems What So Ever. Recently Our Computer Stopped Working Due To The Amount Of Virus's We Recieved From The Aol Software! We Tried Reloading Aol On To Both The Old Computer And A Brand New Laptop! And We Was Unable To Connect. (We Was Unconnected For 2 months!) After £30 Worth Of Calls And After Talking To Many Indian People That We Couldnt Understand And That Hung Up On Us! We Finally Connect Via Internet Explorer Yet We Still Cnt Sign In To Aol And We Have Lot All Old Email Addresses And Emails. Aol Took No Responablity For This. Even Though We Are Connect, Aol Constantly Tooks Itself Off And Spends About 10 Minutes Attempting To Connect Again. I Would Certianly Advice AGAINST Aol!
