Guide to Broadband - Part 2 of 6
To skip to a particular section of this guide use our quick links:
Are you a light, medium or heavy internet user? Once you have identified what type of
user you are you can find the right kind of broadband package for you:
Light internet user
You are a light internet user if you use the internet infrequently to check email
and visit websites only.
Download speeds will not be of great importance to you - of course, the faster
the better but there is little point in paying extra for super high-speed when
you get so little benefit from it. Download limits are unimportant, as you will
not scratch the surface of even the lowest limits available, so the cheapest
broadband deals are probably the best products for you.

Medium internet user
You are a medium internet user if you use the internet daily for general surfing
and email use and occasional downloading of music or video clips.
Download limits will be of interest to you but not a great concern as most
broadband packages offer enough download capacity for a medium user. Download
speed is relevant but you don´t need super-fast broadband either. You may also
want to consider a combined broadband/phone package to save you money.

Heavy internet user
You are a heavy internet user if you use the internet for five or more hours
each day and download extensively.
You should be looking for a product with a large download capacity,
(ie more than 6Gb a month) or a product with an unlimited download capacity.
You don´t want to watch the amount of downloads you use. Download speed is
of great importance; you might wish to consider super-fast broadband services,
even though the monthly fee is higher.
