My buildings insurance renewal with Tesco arrived last week, over £360.
I phoned my contents company, CIS, for a combined quote which was over £400.
A trawl through the moneysupermarket quotes gave me several combined figures around £250.
I phoned CIS - who are a good company I've been with for years - but they wouldn't drop their price.
I phoned Tesco who promptly offered me a combined policy for £254.
So by telling Tesco I had a better quote they immediately dropped their renewal premium by over £100 - and added a £30K contents policy for free.
As they had settled a fire claim promptly a few years ago, I decided to stick with Tesco this time.
But never again will I accept a renewal premium without checking other companies. Tesco obviously display no loyalty towards existing customers, so why should we?
