    Virgin Media anygood or what?

We'd be interested to hear from any existing Virgin Media customers as to what they think of the Virgin Media as a broadband / bundled provider.

Are their bundled deals good value for money and more importantly do they deliver good service?

    Cheers

I dont have a bundle as such with them except have call plan and get tv free.tv doesnt work,no picture.last month changed to direct debit and they took the money without sending me a bill!.its not as good as ntl for customer service.

Are you serious about having worse customer service than NTL?

yes i thought NTl was bad for customer service but virgin media are worse.if thats possible?.a couple of my friends have had the following problems with virgin media.....

one friend was charged for services when she currently only had incoming calls.she could understand paying for the phone line but not internet and broadband which she didnt even have.

another friend got cut off because she was late with her bill.she previously had a perfect paying record.

another friend had problems with her box, poor or little picture quality.when she rang they told her she would have to pay for a new box!.previously NTL would have came and repaired box.(eventaully of course but not when they said they would come!)

not too mention the channels we lost without even being told about it.

    Thanks Jules

I must say I'm astounded that they have a worse customer service record than NTL! Especially when Virgin Media made a committment in terms of time and resources to have improved customer services at the launch of their brand.

Can anyone else corrorborate Jules' assertion that they're worse?

    Hi Jason,

Iwould say they are crap and got worse since Virgin took over.  They were due to come to sort out my problems, but never came so I gave up and went to sky. also their broadband is not as quick as Sky and when you call them you generally get India and therefore can't understand what they are saying and they you.

    Hope this helps.

    c

The broadband service is very reliable and fast and with the new £10 packages it's great value.

I think it depends which area you live in as they section the country by callcentres but yes I'm in one of the area's where you can be waiting 45 minutes to get through to someone and then end up being passed about

I thought the phone deals were the same with Sky (which needs a BT installation) plus you only get the max speeds if you live near to the exchange (ADSL) unlike cable.  Sky also cap the bandwidth something Virgin Media don't do (download/upload usage)

Re: Virgin Media anygood or what?

I was a very satisfied NTL broadband customer, not nearly so happy as a Virgin Media customer my monthly payment has increased, I admit by only a penny, but how many others has this happened to? The speed I am supposed to receive is no where near the speed that is actually received much less than it should be. I have tried to contact them both by e-mail and telephone all I get is an automated reply or music playing in my ear I have held on for over 20 minutes at a time and still not spoken to anyone. Loyal customers seem to get nothing in the way of reward for staying with the company, I prefer cable connection to any other so I guess I either have to shut up or put up but I am not happy with VM at all

angela11 if you've been with them over 12 months phone up demand to be put through to retentions (fancy word for cancelations) and tell them about the problems.   Tell them you want your account canceled because your sick of the messing around and you'll find the problems get sorted straight away and they'll offer you a nice deal like half price broadband for 12 months or free phoneline etc ;)

Re: Virgin Media anygood or what?

I am trying but I do have other things to do besides hang on a telephone listening to their choice of music the numbers I have do not seem attached to human beings but I will persevere and maybe someone will take pity on me. I live in hope.

Re: Virgin Media anygood or what?

I thought being with Ntl for since they took over the previous Cable & wireless and they took over the people who laid the cable infront my home, was quite alright beside their dreaded customer support, although, they did have something called "Broadband Medic" which was very helpful if your broadbank went wrong. I am also on their telephone/tv etc.

Than comes Virgin Meadia and ruin my life as though being severely disabled is not enough. I have at last gone for option 4 for $40.00 which they say it must be taken before 31/03/2007 which I did. Now that has a mobile phone with goodies in it. I have been rejected because of my Credit rating. Well, Not that I fell in in all the bad Credit. But, my ID was broken into without knowing for quite sometime and some clever clog got me in with a problem that I just cannot solve for the time being as Vigin Meadia with the long list of problems I had with them almost put me in I.C.U. Now I am paying the amount with them honouring the Mobile phone even as I said with Pay as you talk, they keep putting me to so many reps. and all I hear after 60 minutes of dingdongs is NO!!. I am out of my wits and really can't thing of any other way. Please if some one did have similar problems, please direct me to a life line please. I have an old antique Vodaphone with pay as you go and it will not accept anyother sim but Voda,as we,that is my wife is also a bit disabled so it is important for us to have a mobile as to keep intouch with my wife when she goes shopping just incase she gets a Panic attack and other things. I don't sleep at night, only catch few hours sleep during the day due to the bucket full of medications. PLEASE, SOME  ONE OUT THERE CAN COME  UP WITH HELP WHICH WILL MAKE MY LIFE A BIT LIVEABLE... SORRY FOR SUCH A LONG THREAD. MANY THANKS IN ADVACE.(Sorry but,it's about Broadband- I was on 10 mgb and now they say I am on 4 mgb. but my software tells me I am on 2 mbg. on the snail pace.))

    almatex.
