    Virgin Media

    Hi,

Recently took out a package with Virgin Media (Phone, TV, Broadband)

Im on the 20mb broadband which is the XL package i think, however im sure im getting nowhere near this sort of speed, after numerous calls(to a premium rate number) im assured that it is 20mb

How can i check the speed of the broadband to see if i am in fact getting what i am paying for?

     any ideas?

     Cheers!

    Re: Virgin Media

Unless you are on cable, you will be VERY unlikely to get 20Mbit.

Go to www dot speed-test dot net and run the test from there. It gives probably the most realistic speed test for your connection.

    SHARK!

    Re: Virgin Media

Hi to all customers of Virgin Media,

Disconnect from there service immediately or dont give your bank account details to them. I have had a very bad experience with them recently. I had a contract with them and had to disconnect as they were not providing service in the new place i was moving. I had a direct debit set up. On cancellation i was told that i have to pay 50 pounds for cancellation only. I did pay and never dreamt that they wil misuse my details. After that i was not staying in UK for some months so i didnt check my bank statement as virgin only had a direct debit in that account. and i never dreamt that they might be taking money from my account every month. After three months i came home and saw my bank details and was shocked. I called my Bank (which is also rubbish), they said that i have to contact Virgin. I called them and they told me that my account is still activated. I argued that if it was activated then y the hell did you take 50 pounds from me. I argued a lot and finally they said oooo your status was not deactivated in accounts department.. what a crap.. since three months your system was not activated. I called my bank and cancelled the direct debit. Now the worst part.. the fourth month came adn they again took money. I called my bank and they said that they have my card details through which they are taking money and the bank cannot refuse payment. I again called virgin and nobody was taking resposibility. i was given one number to the other to call. Finally after a month they said that they wil refund my money back to me in 3 days. I waited for 7 days but yet my money was not there in my account. I called them again stating the reference number of the lady whom i had talked earlier. This time a new story.. i was told that no it normally takes 7 working days... i argued that it is 7 working days now... where is my money? that lady told me that it would be there in 2 days... i waited again for 4 days... and called again. This time again a new person and i was told it takes 15 days for a refund procedure......

Now this time it was heights... and i bursted on him like anything.. he said that he wil call me wen my refund is proceeded. He called me the next day and said my refund has been proceeded. Wen i confirmed the amount it was less. I asked y , he replied that service charges which u njoyed for 5 months(4 months charges and 1 months period for refund process) i again argued that y should i pay the service charges which i havent njoyed at all. It was your mistake y should i suffer? I had to agree cze something is beter then nothing.

At the end i learnt that i didnt get my refund cze the call charges to the premium numbers were more than my refund. And actully i loss my money cze i didnt get my full refund.
