serious problem with mist on windscreen
Hi, I bought a used peugeot 306 few months ago. Its heater is not working. Now as the winter is approaching and I have to drive in the early morning around 7a.m. I have a thick mist cover and it becomes dangerous to drive. I tried to wipe it with a piece of cloth or soaking paper but it doesnt work. Is there any suggestion regarding this?

Re: serious problem with mist on windscreen
Hi, It could be a number of problems. 1. Check coolant level is correct. 2. Thermostat may be constantly open. Check small bore pipes feeding heater radiator for heat radiation, if they are cold it is probably the thermostat. 3. Older cars can furr up the inside of the heater matrix and slow the flow of water. 4. European cars need the coolant system bled if the level has fallen. An airlock will form and restrict the flow of water. 5. If it is a Ford Ka it is a common problem and easily fixed, will go into that if it is the case? Ian

Kind regards

You are redundant with the 'odd' exception. In this case it's because we don't like to get our hands dirty or ruin our fingernails! WildHaggis: Indispensible : I thought that the mist problem was caused by heavy breathing??? Heavy breathing mists up the windscreen - fact! Don't tell me you didn't know that WildHaggis. LOL. Doesn't it strike a chord? "Well it was long ago and it was far away and it was so much better than it is today." ... Name that tune ;o)
Kind regards
Indi

Re: serious problem with mist on windscreen
Indie, I live in Scotland (although my blood is too thin for here - I'm from Botswana). I'm not even sure what a windscreen is, let alone know what a chord is - something to do with firewood, I suppose. the Moody Blues lost one, I recall. I have no idea if the tune is James Taylor, or Charlie Watts. google didnt help me either... And. I'm married -still to wife no 1, with no real plans to upgrade. so, I have absolutely no idea about heavy breeeeeving. Clueless
