    Renewal Price after claim

Could you please let me know if it is usual for a quotation for B&C insurance to almost double after a claim?

I am using a broker but insuring again with the same provider - last year's quotation was £340 - this year it is over £600.

An online quote with different company is £340 but I did not have to enter details about any claims or NCD so I am not sure if it will be honoured.

    Thanks

    Re: Renewal Price after claim

I can pretty much guarantee that the question about claims will either be asked when you try and proceed with the cover, or it will be hidden in some small print. Failure to notify the insurers of a material fact with mean that they can repudiate any claim in the future.

My advise is do not risk it. You will be buying false peace of mind. Speak to your broker and, depending on what the claim was for, they may be able to negotiate on the premium.
