10 months ago roughly i went in there and asked about buying out my contract as it had i think 6 months on it left or possibly less i cant remember exactly. So explained that I need a lot of texts as text my other half a lot as cant talk at work and a few mins for when she isnt and for ringing other people, friends etc. He explained about vodafone tariff that for £40 you get 500 mins and 100 texts and stop the clock (simple terms if you dont know. use the phone for 1 hour pay for 3 of your inclusive mins) and free picture messages but they will use 3-4 of your text messages, yeah no problem came my reply. i said yeah that sounds good and i knew what phone i wanted as it was the newer version of what i had, i didnt even test the phone as i loved the previous one soo much didnt need to as knew it would be better no question.so they said well the most we can offer you is £80 cash back today which is 4 months line rental if you drop the tariff to the lowest one (£20 odd) so i said well if you can give me the full amount of the 6 months line rental or what ever i had left I would sign there and then. so the manager gets involved and agent explains it all to him. off he goes for half hour or so on the phone to head office apparently. came back and said yeah we can do that, it will be £80 today and £40 cheque within 14days i think he said. so i said ok where do i sign.

first bill arrived and it was £80. i looked at it and didnt go over anything apart from I think one phone call totally 40p or something. So i rang vodaphone and they told me that your always charged two months line rental. so i went into phones4u and said this. "oh the agent would have told you this" well no one said anything to me at all and never said anything about picture messages (i only noticed the picture messages last month when for some reason i looked at my bill as i dont normally and realised that everytime i sent one they charged me 30p i think it was).
They also said they will buy me out after 12 months of the contract but after all this im very unsure and afterwards my other half gont the same deal and same amount of money/cheque combo which she didnt have the same line rental amount left and they didnt question it (which I thought was odd) she has still never got her £40 cheque as P4U apparently want it in writing but she hasnt got anything it was all word of mouth

PERSONALLY AFTER THIS CONTRACT RUNS OUT I WONT TOUCH PHONES 4 U AGAIN OR IF THEY DO BUY ME OUT I WANT EVERYTHING IN WRITING REGARDLESS OF HOW SMALL THE ISSUE IS THEN NOTHING OF ABOVE CAN OCCUR  AGAIN

 Ring head office speak to a customer manager be firm and and not abusive . Tell them you want out as you have been misled they can buy your total contract out as they have the power . Trust me I use to work there and this is what they can do.

DISGRACEFUL TREATMENT BY PHONES 4 U. DONT CHOOSE PHONES 4U.

my phone broke down, I could not recieve and make calls. my phone is still under 12 months warranty /pay monthly contract. I went to phones4u high wycombe branch. extremely unhelpfull staff. then they told me they can not help me. Eventually after an hour of converastion they agreed to take my phone to be sent to their reapir centre. guess what!!! they told me it might take upto 3 weeks. then I phoned the phones 4u repair centre: 08701 611 005 . I discovered that they recorded my address wrongly.. so I had to wait further untill my address was corrected. then I spoke to Ms NIcola from the same repair centre. She was as cold as ICE on the phone. And She refused to help me. and She said that she will hold the phone unless I pay 17 pounds.. for what??? Black mail!! she said she will not return my phone unless repair payment is made. How come when a phone is still under warranty?? phones 4u reapir centre also claim that it is a 'cosmetic damage' when it actually says on the repair form that 'can't receive and make calls and spring inside is loose'
although it is phones4u responsibility they aske me to contact sony ericson.. false information..
phones4u refused to help me.. watch out. Poor customer services.. and be carefull NOT TO GET PHONES Insurance with phones 4 u. You have to pay 50 pounds excess fee for each repair.. this was not explained to me at the store. So I had to pay 90 pounds insurance for nothing...

my recommendation..: dont choose phones4u.. better to deal with the man in the bazaar you will be better off or.
Not only I am left without phone.. but I hate put up with their poor customer services,,
the choice is yours.. you will be better off buying a phone in e bay or in the moon or mars..
DECISION IS YOURS BUT I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND PHONES 4U. YOU WILL BE STUCK WITH THEM 4EVER!!!

i sympathise with u guys. i bought a sony ericsson s700i way back in 2005 and this guy told me that i can download mp3's from any website/ use the mp3 tracks on my computer as ringtones on my new moby. this was my main requirement. however the sales guy wrote it down as simply mp3 player which i didnt pay attention to since he assured me i can set any mp3 track as a ring tone. fine, so i signed my life away once more. went on holiday the next day for 2 weeks. found out i can play mp3 tracks but cant set them as ringtones. came back, contacted phones4u and they said i need to contact vodafone which i duly did. they said i need to send my phone for a software upgrade and it takes 3 weeks. fine, so i did it. got the phone and its still not allowing me to set my tracks as ringtones. so i actually paid £4.50 for a 10 second ringtone (teardrops) from jamster thinking it might work and i still cant set it. rang vodafone and they say i have to contact P4U. they fobbed me off by saying its vodafone's fault. very unhelpful. they couldnt care less frankly. vodafone chucked the ball in P4U's court again and P4U turned around and said i can set mp3's as ringtones provided i download them from vodafone site. i pointed out that this is exactly what i wanted to avoid and that i specifically asked the sales guy before signing the contract that i can set any mp3 track (regardless where it came from) as a ringtone to which he answered in the affirmative. so i'm sat there like a mug going round and round in circles explaining this to 3 people at P4U and ringing voda at the same time trying to knock some sense into both as they both kept fobbing me off not wanting to help me out. spoke to manager at P4U who was a right wanker. basically turned around and said they didnt miss-sell the phone cos i can play and set mp3 tracks as ringtones if i download it from voda. when i pointed out the above, they just dug the form the guy filled in when i first went to look at the phone where it simply said mp3 player and shrugs off. that was it. they weren't prepared to offer me another phone or cancel my contract or whatever. countless more calls and a complaint letter later, P4U head office says they are not in the wrong. that was it. i have never been to a P4U shop and never will and i will maim my children if i have to (when i have them) if it means i can stop them from even thinking of buying a contract from P4U.

 I  agree with you  Phones  4u is nothing more than 'Phones 4Loony' as portraied in their TV advert. It matches them actually.. Lets carry on our campaing against poor and horrible treatment & poor services of Phones 4u to their customers.. what we can do (if any of you suffer from the poor services of phones 4 u )

1. wirte to their customer relations department : phones 4u e mail is : customerrelations at phones4u.co.uk

launch a formal complaint. This will make you eligible to take your case legally to complaint to Office of Fair Trading, or OFCOM, OFTEL, OTELO

2. Write to as many internet forums as possible to highlight the poor services of the Phones 4u company. and explain your story in details so that fellow customers of phones 4u will not suffer the same and WE CAN STOP THE PHONES 4u to demand unlawfull amounts of monies from their customers.

3.  as I mentioned in my earlier posting Phones 4u actually has their own insurance company., great trick from phones 4 u under the name. the Policy Administration Insurance.. Dont be fooled  you have to pay 50 pounds excess feee if your phone goes faulty...

Phones 4 u  belongs to the CAUDWELL group.. make sure that you write an e mail to them to complain as well. DONT FORGET to include the links that you complained in the INTERNET FORUMS.. so that they know you are publisizing your situation and bad expereinces that you suffer from Phones 4u company. their e mail is :

thanx for ur reply. yeah, ur absolutely right about P4U's own insurance co - Policy Admin Services or PAS. i work in a bank and almost all P4U customers have direct debits set up for £7.99 or £9.99 on their accounts without their knowledge and lemme tell u, no one is amused! same with pcworld infact. also lately, i'm sure P4U has been conning polish people left, right and centre into taking out insurance policies. most dont even know what it is for until we point it out and by then a few payments have already been taken!

You are absolutely right... many people get a real SHOCK with phones 4 u in general  not to mention phones 4u insurance  Policy Admin Services insurance.. Imagine someobey pays almost 175 pounds insurance on a 18 month mobile phone contract and your  phones 4 u phones goes faulty:

YOU WILL Have to pay 50 pounds excess feee..  a real RIP OFF from phones for you. and when you try to reach phones 4u on telephone.. they will tell you their system is down.. they told me that couple of times.. and when i tried hiding my number with 141.. ( 2seconds later) their sysstem was not down.. A REAL JOKE !!! I dont know really a cumpany for such poor customer services still survive.. I am looking forward to the COLLAPSE OF PHONES 4U !!!

Guess what happened ?? After All the trouble I went throu with Phones 4u, MPRC repair centre of Phones 4u. ( please read above)

They sent my phone back unreapaired today: BUT!!!!!!!

Phones 4u damaged my phone furher at their repair centre.

Keypad not working, spring inside missing. completely scratched radio arial missing.. Yes all these happened at Phones 4u repair centre when I sent my phone for repair for something else. 

I phoned the phones 4 u repair centre. The guy (Ian)who answered my phone was eating  something  whilst speaking to me. He was not helpfull at all. He told me that I can not post the phone back to Phones 4u. I have to hand it again back to Phones 4u store in high wycombe. So I did. I went to High wycombe Phones 4 u store..

Mr Samir Shaan , Phones 4 u High wycombe store manager  looked worst than Mr Joseph Stalinin his body language as cold as ICE.. I wwas told  I have to wait further 4 weeks to get my phone forr the  damages which phones 4 u  did whilst it is their repair centre.

Ladies and Gentlemen.. what will you do in my case.. 1 and half month waiting for my phone fixed by phones 4 u.. instead they damage my phone further.. I have wriiten over 10 faxes 20 e mails. I  did not receive a single reply to none of them .

I paid 90 pounds phones insurance under Phones 4 u. For nothing. So  cancelled my contract with vodaphone. I am moving now network to TESCO mobile .. HURRAAAA!!!!

What will you do in my case??? Bin the phone or Bin the Phones 4u company FOREVER!!!

My suggestion :

1.CANCEL YOUR PHONES 4u insurance immediately. You are paying for nothing !!!! Believe me I have all the evidence..

2. NEVER AND EVER AGAIN GO NEAR PHONES 4U.  IT IS PHONES FOR THE LOONEY!!!

 I would like to tell you all about my problem with phones 4 U. I would actually call them FRAUD 4 U as they passed on my details  to 3 bogus comapnies who nearly drained my ank account!

I spoke to the manager of the store I got the phone from and he agreed a lot of people had had a problem and phones 4 u was taking the loss and refunding people.

From there it got worse my bank actually refunded it however phones 4 u wouldnt let me return the phone due to a small nick in the screen, vodafone who i took the phone out with were disgusted with phones 4 u and said i was in my right to return it and could take legal action out against them.

I have been to the local press who will be publishing an article however i think we all should join in a group to cuss phones 4 u otherwise known as Fraud 4 u and shut them down any one interested in a publication.

It just seems amazing that they refuse to deal with anything online - and then when you call their 'premium' rate phone number it just cuts you off after 10, or more often, 5 minutes.
