Hi
I have had debt from 1997 which after going to various debt collection companies I still owe 11 years on. I havent been very communicative and now regret it as my circumstances are changing and I have a terrible credit profile.
Most of the debt was from an address where I lived with my parents up to 1999. I have had debt since then but only one vanquis credit card from 2005 but apart from that nothing. I havent been able to get anything.
I recently sent £2 to experian and received a report back which doesnt look too bad. I have one default from 2005 from vanquis because of 3 missed payments and a HFC loan from 2000 which shows as satisfied.
My question is this. Because I have lived at my current address for nearly ten years and havent applied for anything or run up any debt will creditors still see my previous outstanding debt from 11 years ago whilst living at my older address?
If so would it be worth consolidating this old debt and paying it off now? Would this increase my chances of improving my credit score?
Thanks
