Northern Rock and IVA's/Protected Trust Deeds - The Latest?

Anyone know what the latest situation is on this? I know that Northern Rock were more or less chucking the kitchen sink at these things in an effort to defend them.

However, given the fact that the world and their dog is predicting financial armageddon, have they softened in an effort to cut their loss?

Also, I have one of their "together" mortgages. Is it possible that I could exclude the unsecured element from an IVA? (Protected Trust Deed as I am in Scotland). I have credit card debt totalling £13.500 on top of the "together" mortgage that I am struggling to get a loan for.

    Hiya,

As far as I'm aware and was told you can't exclude anything from an IVA, they want to know everything!!!!

Is there no other avenue you can take as in my opinion IVA's are a no no!!!!

Have you spoken to Northern Rock themselves about your finances????

No, I haven't spoken to them.

Thanks for the info though - it was just a thought but will try and juggle best I can. Just don't understand NR's approach to these things as they will get far less back via the bankruptcy route.

    Tell me about it!!!!!

I was lucky enough to have paid my mortgage off to NR due to me selling my house to my husband, but I had a large loan with them and I begged them to help and they advised me to take out a larger loan!!!! whats that all about!!

You can actually write to your creditors yourself and offer them a monthly amount and ask them to freeze the interest aswell, I wish I had because 4 years after settling my IVA and I still cant get credit not even a bank account!!!!

I strongly advise you to speak to citizens advise as they will be able to help you draft letters to your creditors and do a budget so that the amount you offer is what you can comfortably afford each month!!!

Please let me know how you get on and if you need anything else as I wish I had some advice back then.
