    No MAC Required

I closed my account with Orange on Friday last week and called them yesterday to ask for my MAC code. The support engineer advised that as my account has been closed they do not issue me with a MAC code. It takes 7 days for the account to be fully closed and a MAC code is not required for me to open an account with a new provider. Is this true?

    Thanks

    Chris

    Re: No MAC Required

My colleague, a Senior IT Technician tried to obtain his mac code, Orange wanted to charge £195 for cancellation but he explained that he wanted the code but was not cancelling at that time, he was paying more than Orange were offering new accounts and wanted the same deal. He then received an email telling him that his contract had been extended by another year which he did not want to do under his current terms. He had to make two phone calls, the second of which lasted over an hour. He spoke to several people, the last of which was an escallation team member who finally gave him the mac code, voip, increased his bandwidth and reduced the monthly charges because of the trouble he had experienced. Don't give up, it's your legal right to obtain the mac code and ensure that they will not charge you or change your contract without your express agreement, ask to be put through to the escallation team if you get nowhere with customer services..... and good luck!
