    New Labour, Old Lies

As we approach the May elections, I thought it timely to issue a small reminder of what Tony Bliar's party has done for us over the last 10 years.

New Labour inherited a very strong economy with inflation and rates dropping steadily since the early 1990s. Despite this health, we are now in a very serious financial situation with every taxpayer now owning (whether we like it or not) a bank and £50 Billion in national debts on top of the normal national debt. Not once were we asked or consulted as New Labour has gone from being a 'political party' to a dictatorship. Gordon Brown is an incompetent who has wrecked the economy and now proceeds to wreck our international relations. His predecssor is doing his best to undermine him but ask yourself why.

No-one in their right mind wants to inherit the steaming pile that New Labour has made of the UK. New Labour certainly does not want to win the next General Election as they will be forced to face the mess that they have made of the country. As for the opposition - when they stop opposing themselves, maybe they'll have some time to consider what has happened to the population. The green lies that form the basis of the New Labour taxation policy has seen fuel and diesel prices rocket to £5 per gallon - the second highest in the world and the highest of any oil-producing nation. The actual cost per gallon of petrol is below £0.50 - the rest being tax and more tax. Small businesses - the very core of the business future of the country - are now being financially destroyed with the loss of the 10p tax band.

Law and order has seen knife crime and youth delinquency reach epidemic proportions whilst the police sit on the sidelines for fear of breaching health and safety or human rights laws. Gaols are at breaking point, filled with pensioner council tax evaders whilst multi-convicted rapists and murderers are free to roam on Community Sentences.

Labour has always been a party that bases its policies on high taxation and little delivery, and these 10 years have seen undisputed proof of this. Yet we are confronted with the reality that there isn't a single party worth voting for in the up-coming elections. No-one with any conscience could put "hag-a-hoodie-call-me-dave" into power, neither could anyone put multi-bonking Clegg there either.

To sum it all up, I quote another brilliant line from a short time ago that said, "We only have Gordon Brown now to show how good Tony Blair was ..." If this is the level to which we have fallen - God help us all as the future is very bleak indeed. We need to have a valid vote called "NONE OF THE ABOVE" so we can actually have a voice that represents the people.

    SHARK!

Any chance of you standing for election when it comes? I'd vote for you!

I think I'd have to set up my own party, which would require a manifesto, so here's a challenge for you - what would the manfiesto be?? Ideas on a postcard please...

I agree with the main thrust of your comment Landshark. I am not sure whether or not it was having no option or a stroke of genius that moved Tony Blair to make GB 'CEO' but the result is TB gets no flack at all these days but GB is in the 'stocks' everyday! At the start I really thought GB was a brilliant Chancellor then as the years rolled by I thought I could have massaged up a consumer boom fuelled by easy credit to masquerade as an economic boom. To the detriment of the media I don't see any stomach for a concerted 'PM any comments on your mantra "No more boom and bust?" ' but then nobody has briefed them to that effect. Mr Darling suggests we are better placed than most to ride out the recession - that is until he is perhaps forced out of office and needs a sexy quote for his zzz biography like "Of course it was ridiculous but that was the line being pushed and I was having trouble re-mortgaging...

In the end Landshark most things in life are relative. I have two choices when a General Election comes; don't vote as a protest or for me Labour or Conservative. Reluctantly I will most probably choose Labour. For Mayor? If we were voting for a person and not Party I'm for Brian Paddick and may well vote for him anyway. BOSS LIVINGSTONE? Erchh!

    Re: New Labour, Old Lies

I am not an economic genious, but I do know how to keep my own financies in order.

I have never believed in credit that I could not repay or that would "overstretch" me if things went wrong.

Now getting to my point. I just cannot understand how all these so called experts running our financial institutions believed that cheap credit could go on forever and were burying their heads in the sand and not thinking "what if".

    So who is at fault:

Joe Public for taking on to much dept without thinking of the consequences?

Banks / Building Societies etc for lending to much money to people who they knew could not afford it?

In my opinion the fault lies totally with our dear Gordon Brown. He had been Chancellor for 10yrs. He could have put a stop to all this unhealthy lending / borrowing. But no he did nothing to stop it. Was this through stupidity or ignorance? Basically not up to the job. He has been PM now for what 2yrs. And again I say Definitely Not Up To The Job.
