need help to get rid of smell

Anyboday got any tips for removing the smell of Turpentine from our washing machine, my flat mate washed some cloths after decorating and now every time we wash our clothes they smell of fresh paint.

I have tried 90 degree wash with vinegar to cut the oil and salt to get rid of the smell with some washing powder and oxygen powder for good measure, but all to no avail.  Also tried febreeze in the drum and that didn't work either arrgh. any suggestions would be gratefully appreciated.

As a former painter and decorator I used to use peeled onions in a bucket of water to remove the smell of fresh paint, it worked everytime and the room din't smell of onions.  You could try putting some onions in an old sock tied at the end and putting it through a wash cycle, you never know it may work.

    Good luck

Well Onions work to take away the smell of fresh paint, so it may be worth chopping up an Onion into very fine bits, then adding it to the washing machine cycle ?

I can just imagine your next question though ....... What do you use to stop you from crying, when chopping onions.?   : - )

Wow --- Posted same time..... great minds ?

Allocate that task to the friend who used your machine to wash his clothes - that will teach him

If you put a metal spoon in your mouth when chopping onions it stops you from crying.

thank you all I will give the onions a try maybe but I am not sure if I want to smell of onions, on the other hand if you wash your hair in vinegar then blow dry it you don't smell, so maybe it will work.
