    Natwest Spam E Mail

I have recieved an e mail today supposedly from Natwest Online Banking, however the form that you are supposed to fill in 'on a regular basis' asks for account numbers and you pin number!!

Just wanted to post it so that everyone is fairly warned about this scam. I have spoken to Natwest and their response is:

'we are aware of this e mail but are unable to do anything about it, it has been going on for almost 2 years. All we can hope is that our customers are not silly enough to give out their pin numbers and personnel details on an online form'! !

What great confidence this breeds! They know about it but cannot do anything! Great! Here is the e mail that I recieved:

----- Original Message ----- From: NatWest Bank To: ******Sent: Thursday, May 01, 2008 10:33 PMSubject: NatWest Bank: Urgent Notification From Customer Service!

    Dear NatWest Bank customer,

We have implemented security measures consistent with our internal information security practices to help us keep your information secure. These measures include technical and procedural steps to protect your data from misuse, access or disclosure, loss, alteration or destruction.

One of these security measures is NOF (NatWest Online Form) to help us to keep your personal and banking data up to date.

You should complete NOF on a regular basis.

Please complete NOF using the link below:

NatWest Online Form (I have removed this link to keep everyone safe)

NatWest Automated Mail Service. Please do not respond to this mail.

So as you can see looks ok nothing spelt badly and the sender does come up as NATWEST. Just hope that noone gets caught out by this scam!

    Dan

Not really "spam" I think this is called Phishing. I would recommend not clicking the link, Difficult I know if you're curious.

    Circumstances alters cases!!

    Hi Mortgageguru

General rule of thumb. Treat all emails from Banks as phishing because id be certain 99.9% of them are. If they need to contact you it will be in writing.
