    Memory Foam Mattress

We have recently bought a memory foam matress and new bedstead. My wife has come up with a rash that is covering most of her body. With cream from the Doctor things are improving. She is no longer sleeping on the new mattress. Has anyone else had a problem with a memory foam mattress. She is unsure about sleeping on the memory foam again. Before I go back to the shop I am trying to find out if this is a common problem. Thank you everyone.

Hi --- It may well be that your wife is sensitive to the material itself, different things do affect people in differing ways. See bottom of article.

    Re: Memory Foam Mattress

Hi Conmankiller, Thank you for the link. Someone was suffering in exactely the same way as my wife. Off to get a new bed today but I feel reassured that we need to spend the money as it does seem very likely this is the cause of the problem. My son has decided to have the bed, a gift from us, so at least we have the chance to shop around and not battle to try and obtain some sort of refund. Thanks for your help, much appreciated.

What a shame. I bought a memory foam mattress and divan last summer and love it, it's so comfortable and doesn't need turning.

One thought I do have is that a mattress protector may help - aside from the obvious (it protects the mattress), it would offer another barrier between the mattress and your (potentially non-memory foam liking) skin.

I love my memory foam 'hybrid' mattress :) (6 Inches of memory foam over pocket springs) :):):)

Yes, we did trythat alas to no avail.

We have now bought a pocket sprung mattress and her rash has now cleared, it took nearly 8 weeks to clear.

    Well that's something I suppose :):)

I'm sure theres probably a fairly good market on fleabay for memory foam mattresses - assuming the shop didn't do the right thing and take it back :)
