greenasgrass: I am currently looking for a policy that is cost effective. Recent quotes are around the £1000 mark...simply too much.
I am 36, female, and have held my licence since august 07.
If I buy a policy now, what would happen when we reach augst 08 and I have held my licence for a full 12 months? Does the policy automatically change to accomodate this or would I have to rearrange my policy to reflect the change of circumstances?
Also, would adding my fathers details to the policy reduce the premium further? He has not had a uk policy for more than 5 years?
Thanks
Yes, next year your premium will reflect a licence length of 1 year and also 1 years No Claims Bonus (subject to there being no claims, of course!). You could always search the market next year using these details also!
It's possible that adding your father to the policy will reduce it, provided that he is under 69 without conviction or claims made against him. The fact that he hasn't had a UK policy within 5 years isn't going to be a big issue, but it will have some reflection on the premium if he has only held his licence for under the 5.
