    Crying [:'(] LAND OF LEATHER

We bought a £1000 Leather suite from Land of Leather and paid £200 for Warranty. Just under year after delivery we noticed the leather peeling away from top of cushion. They sent out assessor who said general wear and tear no further action tried claiming from Warranty co. no joy they said would be up to LOL. After 5 phone calls to LOL and 4 to Warranty Co. I am no further forward except the fact that I still have a peeling suite, the Store Manager from Salisbury has left and NO ONE will take responsibility for a sub-standard suite. HELP! Where do I go from here.

Have you used the search facility at the top of this page and looked for LOL. Lots posted on the very subject. MAy give you some pointers in the direction you should take. Unfortunately you are not the first with this problem and I doubt you will be the last.

    Re: LAND OF LEATHER

Hi --- Try your local trading standards or CAB, under the sale of goods act certain items are expected to last even up to a lengthy period of Six years as being fit for their purpose without becoming defective.

That cannot be dismissed as general fair wear & tear or be seen as acceptable, otherwise every leather suite sold in the Country would only have a life expectancy of just under one year. !!!

It would be perfectly reasonable to expect a new leather suite to last a lot longer than a year, before showing the problems such as you're experiencing, particularly as you have an additional warranty --- (which does not affect your statutory rights).

Insist on your statutory rights by getting the item replaced, repaired or refunded under the sale of goods act, then demand back your £200 warranty money as it has been proven that it was of "no benefit" when there was a valid claim made under the warranty.

    Re: LAND OF LEATHER

Thankyou for your very helpful comments. I have now written to LOL head office demanding for them to repair, replace or refund on the suite. I have also threatened them with all sorts. I have since had a phone call telling me they are looking into this matter and I would receive their reply in a few days. Guess What? Still waiting. They have till next week or next stop Trading Standards.

Will update you as things progress.
