    It's finally happened :(

The NR crew are all in 90-day consultation and then we are redundant, people.

If that a*se Applegarth gets a £750000 payoff I will take to the bloody streets.

We are all a bit gutted. :(

(we do however have internet access fully now while we are at work so we can look for another job, hence you haven't seen us for a bit- hope everyone is alright)

    Bad luck.

You have been stung by poor management decision making.

I can’t help but think that NR now nationalised (and with unlimited liquidity) could easily be run for a PROFIT as your mortgage book was in good shape with few repossessions. In my opinion the government should have run the business as a going concern for the next few years until the markets return to normal, and only then shrink the business.

This rush by the government to liquidate your business is as much to do with the media frenzy and mis-reporting of the facts as it is to do with sensible decision making.

Do you know if your redundancy package will by reasonable?

Having been watching this forum for a long time, this is bad, but I'm afraid somewhat inevitable news.

In my view, the way that the government and the FSA handled this case has been botched from day one. Of course the people actually responsible for placing the employees and account holders at risk will never be brought to account and will probably end up with golden handshakes that ensure that they never ave to work again. Little solace to the thousands of hard workers like yourselves who will have to effectively start over at a time when employment opportunities are severely limited by the credit crunch.

    Good luck to all.

    Re: It's finally happened :(

Where I work is outsourced so prospects are different to most NR employees- unless we are redeployed (unlikely) within our parent company we are gone, on statutory redundancy entitlement naturally. It's not looking good for many although a handful of people are getting quite a lot due to their current position or long service. Most of the workforce are getting very little and will be put on 'garden leave' shortly. This means we get our salary until mid-June but are not expected to be at work unless a redeployment opportunity comes up (subject to our acceptance of it). At the end of that period we take the money and we are gone. It's enough time to find another job but we can't actually take a job that falls within our normal hours until the end of this process, so we are having to hold off looking unless we can defer the start date.

I'm gonna try and get out of financial services altogether but it won't be fun. I have some savings so I'll live but the same can't be said for all, sadly.

    Hey tother

Sorry to hear your bad news. It must have been a very unsettling and stressful time for you all.

I hope that now you know what's happening you can be positive and I'm sure you will be successful in finding alternative employment.

Please, whatever you do, make sure you still speak to us all on here. It would be a shame to lose you. You ought to seek out a job that allows you to visit MS from time to time.

In the meantime, a big hug from your virtual friends. Keep your chin up. x

    Kind regards
    Indi
