Help- extremely high electricity bill - I don't see how it could be £232 a month

Hi, I've just been left in tears after trying to sort out what I see as a mistake in the first place. Last year my electricity bill went from £74.00 a month to £171.00 I tried to complain about this but it didn't go very far. After submitting new readings i've been told it will go to £232 a month.

    Here's a bit of background.

I live in a 1 bedroom flat. I have a small bedroom, small kitchen, small bathroom but a fair sized living room. The house is empty from 7.50 - 5.20, Monday - Friday. I turn lights off after myself, I unplug the majority of things when not in use and if i'm cold I put on an extra jumper.

I have economy seven. The flat contains 2 storage heaters which come on in the night time for a bit. I watch tv on average of 2 hours a day, same with computer use. I don't use anymore electricity than the average person, even people with bigger houses than me pay alot less.

What could be going on here? I've checked the meter so what i'm taking as a reading is fine. I don't think there has been any mistakes where this is concerned.

I saw a post about turning off everything in the morning, taking a reading then seeing at the end of the day. One problem I have is that my meter is not in my flat, it's in my neighbours. Our meter is an old model. Could there be anything going wrong there?

At the moment all my money goes on bills so I don't have £61 extra a month to spare.

I would speak to the neighbours and ask them to monitor the change in readings on a day you turn everything off.

What you're paying sounds ridiculously high.

Often, in these circumstances the day and night readings have been confused (reversed)

    Circumstances alters cases!!
