    Hi

This has not long happened to me, but now the website is no longer available, so I can not get hold of numbers and email addresses. Could you let me know what the email or address you sent this message to?

    Thanks

    Re: Egg Software

I recently sent the following email to Egg Software:

    Dear Sirs,

I have included a link to my own account page on your website for your reference, as you appear to have no knowledge or customer service with respect to you clients. On 15 April 2008 I found your website www.eggsoftware.com when searching for a version of Microsoft Office 2007 which was a similar price to Microsoft's own 'ultimate steal' offer but did not require certain conditions to be met.

I found your website and noted that you were selling MS Office 2007 for £39.99 and the software would be instantly downloadable, with a registration key to be sent via email (to this address) within 24 hours. No such download was made available, no such registration key was sent. Accordingly, you are in danger of breaking the contract between consumer and retailer as you have falsely advertised your goods as instantly available. Secondly, you charges a further £6 for delivery, which I may add is not a valid charge as there is no delivery required for a downloadable piece of software. Accordingly, I have passed your details onto the Trading Standards Office (as your telephone number is not answerable) and they have allocated me a case number. Furthermore, I have contacted www.protx.com in reference to their handling of your accounts (online card payments and such) and they will no doubt begin an investigation into my payment for this non delivery.

Finally, in order to resolve this situation, I will ONLY settle for a FULL refund of £45.99, immediately. I shall contact the abovementioned bodies and cancel my complaints with them if, and only if, you return funds with immediate effect to my bank account (which you were given details of during the transaction). I will NOT settle for a cheque, only immediate BACS transfer or other electronic means which can be checked and verified by myself.

I look forward to hearing your immediate reply, and furthermore, I look forward to a return of my funds. I will take the matter further if a satisfactory resolution is not achieved within 24 hours.

    Yours in faith

I also emailed protx.com with the above email, including some extra information regrading the transaction so that they could trace anything if required.

Within my specified 24 hour period I received the following email from 'Jack' at eggsoftware:

A full refund has now been issued, please allow 2-7 days for the funds to be credited back to your account.

    Regards

    Jack
    Sales Dept
    EggSoftware.com

Somehow, and I don't quite believe it, I received my full refund this morning. There is hope to get your money back. Please follow this lead and you may receive your full refund for whatever amount 'Jack' has taken from you... Good luck!

    Re: Egg Software

No refunds to date. I didn't bother accepting a refund from. I prefer to go through my bank. At least I'll definitely get my money back. Maybe they will refund you, wait a while and see what happens. Minx

    Re: Egg Software

I followed the dive on this board after falling foul of eggsoftware.com
and demanded a full refund. I recently got the abovementioned email from Jack at eggsoftware offering a full refund. I am just curious to find out if anyone has received a full refund? I have been told the refund will be effected within 2-3 working days, but I am still sceptical about this...

    Any ideas?

    Re: Egg Software

    Hi Doonta,

If you used a credit card, you're fine. You'll have to wait 30 days and then you can contact your bank and explain to them what has happened as you will most likely not receive the goods you ordered. Your bank will refund you and it will be up to them to chase egg for the money. If you used a debit card, then the scenario may be different... Call your bank tomorrow and see what they say. You could of course contact "protx" (company who deals with their online transactions) and send them an email saying that these scum bags have knicked your dosh. Make sure you ask them why they are allowing these fraudulent scumbags to make money using their system. They should in turn contact egg who hopefully should email you saying that they will be happy to refund you. Not sure that they will but it's worth a try. It's a little convaluted but it's better than nothing.

I would also recommend you email all relevant bodies (read thread) about your experience and concerns.

    Bonne Chance mon ami!

    Minkie.

    Re: Egg Software

Hi guys...been reading your posts, and my shoulders are slumping as to me ever retrieving my $100.00 I just gave them. Is there any hope? Do I just take the hit and learn my lesson?

    Thanks...

    Re: Egg Software

The reality of bringing this person/people down is - I'm afraid - very difficult.

Setting up web sites and duping people is an Internet phenomenon that is not easily resolved until the ISPs start to take responsibility for servers on their connections. They are reluctant to do this as it entails a huge amount of work with nothing to show for it. Easier to deal with the complaints if and when the arrive.

What can be done is to report these people to the police whenever they poke their heads above the parapet. These are fraudsters and cyberscum of the worst order. Get the web site address, send it to Microsoft's anti-piracy unit at the same time and you should see a very quick removal.

One thing I forgot to add to my rules of Internet purchasing was that you should ALWAYS use a UK credit card as these usually have buyer protection built in. Debit cards are different so be careful.

    SHARK!

    Re: Egg Software

P.S. It took me 20 seconds on the RoyalMail postcode finder site to confirm that the EggSoftware address wasn't valid. Yet, the fraud unit at Companies House stated that "They do not have the powers to do that" ----- gobsmacked...

....and the BBC are running a big online fraud article today. Doesn't it make you feel good to be on the cutting edge of crime fighting ?

    Re: Egg Software

Our mischievious monkey is at it again ......the main egg.software.com is down but he still has http://www.eggsoftware.com/contact_us.html

    and

    http://87.117.253.241/windows-2/anti-virus-security-4/symantec-norton-upgrade-edition-893.htm

up and running. Can anybody trace the hosting company again ?

Hey all, did you know that Companies House don't check that a new registration has a valid address !!! You can make up any old address for a new company and they wouldn't know ! This is part of the reason why Egg Software (or Princell Software as it is registered) looks real. This is a massive loophole in allowing fraudsters to operate so if anyone feels like writing a letter/email about this then try sending it to http://www.insolvency.gov.uk/cib/index.htm and your local MP. John Hutton - Secretary of State for Business and Enterprise ( the old DTI) would want to know about these massive loopholes I'm sure.
