i WAS UNDECIDED TO CLAIM OR NOT FOR WATER DAMAGE TO MY CAR THIS WAS THE DIALOGUE-From the company="O the engineer has switched his phone
off."..."well I have left messages for him to call the office for
you"...."yes ill make sure he calls you for an update"...also="O its
five o clock now, he will have left the office"..."well we are always
getting complaints about the engineers"..
From the
garage="the girl in the office has gone sick this afternoon and we
didnt know the engineer had been out"... "O well it will cost you £370
thats with vat n fully fitted, so its not worth claiming off your
ins, as the engineer has told us if you make a claim it will cost
£380"(i made the garage repeat this price back to me several times, and
i also said the price to them £370 all in then?-, in front of another
person who was at my house at the time) ......(WHEN I WENT TO PAY )...."No i said it would be
£370 PLUS vat, so now its £408"..."a verbal quote isnt worth
anything".....WHAT ID LIKE TO KNOW IS -after the garage
did the repairs, and they showed me a written quote(which i had never
seen before) for over £600 saying they had made a mistake and this is
the true cost and i am getting it cheap at £408- do i have to pay £408
or as the verbal agreed price £370?. after all if the true cast was
over £600, why wasnt the engineer told this and shown this quote when
he called- it would be worth my while to claim at that price?I
haven't as yet paid the garage(who also happen to be an insurance
breakdown recovery garage for my area) for anything.... i do not know
who is at fault, the garage or the engineer, both seem to me to be
doing a deal as if i had claimed the garage would have to wait for the
money longer.
