    claim history question, please help.

My wife is policy holder and I'm an additional driver. I had an accident recently and made a claim which should affect her NCD.

Now we need to renew the insurance. We found buying with 0 NCD is even cheaper than renewing with the current insurance.

When we are quoting on the internet (e.g. Moneysavingforum), should both of us declair the claim history? or just policy holder (my wife) ?

    Thanks in advance.

Hi -- Your Wife (the applicant) should fill in the claims made section details about the claim that she made as the policyholder.

Where it gets to accidents for named drivers, the details of the actual accident should be declared against your name.

i.e. she has made the claim, but you had the accident..... the same date will correspond.

Hi -- As you get further into the quote it will ask you to add additional drivers then declare any accidents.

They only ask if I have claim or conviction before. No one ask if I have accident before.

another question: if I buy an insurance alone in the future, should I declare I have made a claim before?

    Many thanks.

Hi -- Where they ask if you have had a claim fill in the details there, sometimes a drop down box will give you choice regarding what king of accident happened, just pick the one that applies to you.

If you do buy insurance in your name only then the fact is that you haven't made a claim on your insurance, it was your Wife who made the claim on her insurance. So you would have no claim to declare if you buy alone in the future.
