    Brand New House no internet

Hi we have moved into a brand new house, currently there is no phone line, how do we go about getting the internet, do we have to have a phone line? all we want is use of the internet, not to make any calls!

    Hi,

Wireless is available without a phone line but you may not be in the best area to receive this. Check the websites for locations near you and the strength available. I have a BT line for about 11.00 p.m lowest tariff. You would have to pay for connection though and internet provison. In the end it will be down to your download requirements and speed that will determine your choice?

    Hi Blade25

If you don't want a phone or cable line you may want to consider the mobile broadband offering from 3 - it plugs into your laptop and you're away.

    I really their pricing of £10 / £15 / £25 - for 1GB / 3GB / Unlimited and the speed isn't shabby at 2.8Mb.

If you're not happy with this in order to find you the best deals from a phone line I'd need to know your postcode.

    Cheers

Based on your location I would definitely go with Be Value - £14 a mth (£10.50 a mth line rental) for 8Mb/unlimited broadband. You also get a free wireless router.

There's one slight sticking point and that is you're going to have to pay £128 BT line installation.

If you don't want to do this, then you may want to consider Virgin Media which only costs £25 to install the line but whenever you want to leave Virgin Media it will cost £128 to switch to anyone else.

    Cheers

Re: Brand New House no internet

    Hi Jason,

I'm in the same situation. I've contacted BT who insist that if you want them to install the line for the £125 fee, you have to take out a 12 month contract with them for the telephone line rental too. In an ideal scenario, I'm trying to achieve the following:

Install a telephone line (even if that does cost £125 one off fee) and then sign up to Tiscali Telephone, broadband and TV for £15.99 a month.

Is there a cheaper/ better way?

    Thanks

Re: Brand New House no internet

    Hi,

We joined DST (Direct Save Telecom) they can get you a phone line for just over £100 installed and it's a 28 day contract. I can't remember the exact amount but they have rolling 28 day contracts. The other alternative is the Phone Co-op. They were the only 2 companies that I found that also install telephone lines. DST also do Broadband (that's what we have) with them.

Though you'd need to check with Tiscali if you need a BT landline as technically these options aren't.

The positives are we don't deal with BT!

Re: Brand New House no internet

Around our way we can have radio Internet via Zycomm W3Z which is supplied to all outlying and rural areas without a phone line as many outlying areas are not broadband compatible.

    Check out their website

    http://www.w3z.co.uk

    Hope this is of assistance

Re: Brand New House no internet

XLN telecom do cheap line installation and I have found BE unlimited do the fastest downloads/uploads in most areas but
I'm going for Vodafones mobile internet for home @ £15 pm with the best coverage
