    Bad Debt

    Afternoon,

I am having serious problems with debt.

I have just taken out a secured loan of £10,000 with Welcome finance who are charging me a high rate.

I took this out to clear my debts but I still have around £4,000 of debt left. I can afford the repayments on my welcome finance loan and also my mortgage and my bills. I can not afford to repay the other debts.

What would you suggest I do?

    Thank you in advance, Natalie.

    Re: Bad Debt

Hi Natalie --- Before the debts get too far out of control I urge you to pay a visit to your local CAB or contact the CCCS below, either of them will work out a re-payment schedule that you can afford taking into account your priority creditors first i.e. your mortgage, secured loan or council tax, etc (this keeps the roof over your head).. followed by your basic essentials such as utilities and food.

Once they have accounted for the above if there is some spare money left over, they or you can approach the other non-essential creditors with an offer to repay what you can afford to them, it is better paying a little to all concerned if possible rather than nothing to one, but you need help to work this out ...contacting professional debt counsellors early on is crucial to get the early assistance that you will need.
